Announcing PipeDos 1.1, the utility that finally lets you use those DOS
programs seamlessly. PipeDos allows you to use popular DOS command-line
utilities in an OS/2 window. Normally, if you type:
mem
OS/2 will minimize your current window, open a DOS window, display the
information from mem, destroy the DOS window (and the valuable
information) and restore the original OS/2 window. Try it. You'll see
what I mean.
With PipeDos 1.1 you can type:
pd mem
and you will see the information from mem displayed in your original OS/2
window. No jarring changing of windows. No lost information.
And now with PipeDos 1.1, you can even interact with your DOS utilities.
Anything you type on the keyboard is sent to the DOS program. For you
4DOS fans, you could even do this:
pd 4dos
PipeDos is perfect for DOS based archive utilities (pkunzip, lha, etc.),
DOS compilers, basic DOS disk utilities, etc. Any DOS program that does
only simple I/O (stdin, stdout, stderr) can probably be used with PipeDos.
And the best part is: It's free! Look for it at:
hobbes.nmsu.edu:/incoming/PipeDos11.zip or /dos/PipeDos11.zip.
