Our Packaging Vendor Goofed
Upon receipt of our Developer Connection for OS/2 Volume 9 shipment, we
discovered that the physical packaging was not correct. All of the components
are fine and the product function is correct, but it is a little difficult to
remove some of the components from the case. Because Volume 9 is very exciting
(includes a new Compiler category, as well as the Developer API Extensions that
were featured in the Volume 8 newsletter), we knew you wouldn't want us to
delay shipment. So, we made the decision to ship the package as-is and give
you instructions how to reassemble the package correctly, if you so desire. If
you have Volume 8, please follow that structure. Otherwise, reassemble the
package as follows:
1) Remove all of the components from the plastic package. You should have 6
CDs (4 Volume 9 OS/2 CDs and 2 Volume 5 LAN CDs), 1 User's Guide, a LAN insert,
and a back insert with a barcode.
2) Turn the package so the clear plastic sleeve is on top. Insert the User's
Guide into the clear plastic sleeve. When you turn the first page, the back of
the User's Guide is on the left. On the right is a page with a white backing
and a CD cutout. The rest of the book is filled with these CD pages on the
right. Start putting the CDs into these blank CD pages, starting with Volume 9
CD disc 1 for OS/2, through CD disc 4 for OS/2. Then continue with Volume 5 CD
disc 1 for LAN and end with Volume 5 CD disc 2 for LAN. Now go back to the
page with Volume 9 CD disc 4 and slip behind it the LAN insert page. Turn the
page and you should see the LAN insert page on the left, with the Volume 5 CD
disc 1 on the right. Go to the last page and put the back insert behind the
Volume 5 CD disc 2. When you close the package, you should see the back insert.
We are sorry for this inconvenience and hope we made the right decision not to
delay the shipment. Enjoy your new volume of The Developer Connection for
OS/2!
