General Meeting: 7:30 PM

2575 Sand Hill Road
Menlo Park, California

The November meeting of the OS/2 Bay Area User Group will explore a
topic of ongoing concern to the OS/2 user community: press coverage
of OS/2. We've seen articles that inaccurately portray the
capabilities of OS/2, and comparative application reviews that
ignore OS/2 products. Often, it seems that OS/2 is held to a
different standard from other software.

Conversely, many in the media have come to regard OS/2 users as
crazed zealots who tolerate no challenge to their true beliefs. And
some have argued that OS/2's coverage in the press fundamentally
reflects IBM's inability to articulate a clear and consistent
message about OS/2.

Our distinguished panel will explore these questions and more. Are
the criticisms of OS/2's coverage valid? If so, why? What dynamics
drive the journalistic decisions? And even if the criticisms are
correct, how much power does the press in fact have in determining
the success of OS/2?

Pose Your Question
If you have a question that you'd very much like to see posed to the
panel, send it to moderator Sanford Rockowitz,
rockowitz@minsoft.com.

Directions To Meeting
Take the Sand Hill Road East exit off I-280. The second traffic light
after the one at the interchange is the entrance to SLAC. Turn right.
Stop at the guard house and tell the guard that you are going to the OS/2
Bay Area User Group meeting. The Auditorium is in the central area of the
complex and is the building straight ahead of you when you are at the
guard house.

Admission Fee
General meetings are free for members and $3 for nonmembers.
