---------------------------------------------------------------------
An updated preversion 0.85d of the The Binary HTTP-Reader is
available for public beta testing.

Software Description
--------------------
The Binary HTTP Reader makes it easy to download tons of files from the
World Wide Web (WWW). Binaries on WWW-Servers are not encoded and it's very
easy to display and save them locally on your hard disk using a Web Browser
such as Netscape's Navigator.

But have you ever tried to download a bulk of binaries from a Web site? Of
course you have! You have to crawl through dozens of webpages, you receive
megs of bytes you really don't want (logos, ads, info etc) until you finally
reach the filelist. After this, you have to download each of your binaries
manually (one by one) and store it on your system...

The HTTP Reader makes it easy to download binary files like
- Pictures
- Audio files
- Movies
- Other binaries like software, ZIPs

from Webpages! The HTTP-Reader displays the entire site in a hierarchical
view, beginning with the homepage on top (similar to the OS/2 drives
window). The HTTP-Reader doesn't display the graphical webpage, it only
displays referenced binary objects and links (exactly what you're interested
in).

Some servers (Microsoft, who else?) do not allow to receive software
from their servers when using the wrong WebBrowser. You have to use
the correct MS-Explorer for Windows 95 to get some free software.
The HTTP-Reader features a nice function called 'Agent Emulator' where
you can select the name of the required WebBrowser to get the wanted
binaries. The Binary HTTP-Reader then identifies itself as MS-Explorer
or Netscape etc...

Two additional features help you to "copy" an entire server to your
local disk with a few mouseclicks: The Autoexpander automatically
receives and expands a referenced HTML- or frame page without a manual
mouseclick if it is at a lower level in the URL hierarchy or at the same
level but with a higher URL name.

Example: You have received a HTML-page from /pub/pics/index.html. This
index.html references to 3 other HTML-pages at /pub/pics/cars/index.html,
/pub/pics/jets/index.html and /pub/sounds/index.html. The Autoexpander
automatically receives the pages in the cars and jets directory because
they are below the current URL path but it does not receive the sounds
index because this is found in a parallel directory. After this, the
same happens to /pub/pics/cars/index.html and so on...
...until you have reached the "bottom" of the server URL hierarchy.

The Autoreceiver automatically receives all binary objects on a page if
they are at a lower level in the URL hierarchy.
