I am proud to introduce the first public beta release of a brand-new scanner
application for OS/2:
Scan It/2 using SANE v0.90 beta
Scan It/2 is a native OS/2 PM frontend for the free available SANE (Scanner
Access Now Easy) software interface. Scan It/2 has a nice and easy to use
user interface including toolbar, preview window and drag'n'drop support for
easily acquiring images and save them in various file formats. Scan It/2
supports all scanners which are supported by SANE and was tested in-house
with Canon and Hewlett Packard models.
Some highlights of Scan It/2 are
* Sizeable preview window
* Individual resolution and mode of preview scan
* Drag'n'Drop support: drag a selection from the preview window to scan
an image
* Support for extended settings like contrast, brightness, gamma
correction (if supported by attached scanner)
* Save images in various file formats: Bitmap, TIFF, JPEG, PNM
* Batch processing: drag and drop multiple selections from the preview
window onto a batch processing window and process the scans in a batch
* Toolbar for quick access to the most used functions
* All needed run-time files included (ASPI Router, EMX, SANE library)
* English and german language files and online help
* Installation and deinstallation program
Still to come: zoom functions in preview window, printing support and more.
SANE is an universal scanner interface for various platforms. For more
information about SANE, the SANE project and supported acquisition devices
refer to the SANE Homepage at http://www.mostang.com/sane/. The list of
supported scanners currently includes models from Agfa, Canon, Epson, HP,
Microtek, Mustek, Siemens, Tamarack, Umax, Vobis and others.
Please note: this beta version of Scan It/2 will cease function at 98/08/31.
Version 1.0 will be distributed as shareware.
Scan It/2 is available from my homepage at
