KOPYKAT PRESS RELEASE
Hilgraeve Announces KopyKat 1.2
Reliable, Full Remote Control of OS/2 Desktop
Las Vegas, NV, November 13, 1995 Hilgraeve Inc. today announced
the newest version of its KopyKat Remote Control Software for OS/2.
KopyKat Version 1.2 provides OS/2 users with increased network support
and significantly improved reliability. Hilgraeve will be
demonstrating KopyKat 1.2 at COMDEX/Fall, IBM booth number L1814 in
the Las Vegas Convention Center.
KopyKat is the only product on the market that provides
full control of the OS/2 desktop, and many of our users depend on it
for important technical and customer support applications, said Matt
Gray, president. We're committed to improving KopyKats features,
reliability, and performance to help our customers more effectively
support theirs.
Product Features and Benefits
KopyKat 1.2 can now be used through SPX/IPX network protocol,
in addition to the protocols KopyKat already supported. Many
corporate customers have requested SPX/IPX for through-the-network
remote control of workstations, because they find this protocol loads
networks less and is easier to route among networks. KopyKat 1.2 also
supports NetBIOS and TCP/IP protocols. Users can remotely control or
transfer files with other OS/2 workstations through IBM LAN Server,
Novell Netware, and TCP/IP networks. Through TCP/IP, users can even
connect with and remotely control other workstations through the
Internet.
KopyKat features fast file transfer capabilities with many built-in
convenience features. The file transfer is based on HyperProtocol,
Hilgraeve's own file transfer protocol, which has been judged the
fastest file transfer protocol in independent tests. HyperProtocol
includes on-the-fly compression, crash recovery, and smart file
updating capabilities. For example, the user can instruct the program
to send an entire directory and its subdirectories, and send only
those files that are newer than the files on the receiving computer.
The software was quickly recognized as the fastest OS/2 remote
control program when it was introduced in early 1994. KopyKat lets
users get more work done in less time, increasing their productivity
and cutting long distance charges. It allows remote control between
OS/2 PCs through networks, or through modems, which may be operated at
serial interface speeds of up to 115,200 bps with third party drivers
such as SIO.SYS, 57,600 bps with standard OS/2 Warp or 2.1 comm
drivers, and 19,200 bps with OS/2 1.3 comm drivers.
KopyKat Version 1.2 features expanded modem support, including many
of the latest 28.8 bps, V.34 modems. Users can easily select from
over 500 modems with KopyKats built-in modem support, unlike other
products which require users to define their own modem initialization
strings. Hilgraeve is continually adding support for new modems,
which KopyKat and HyperACCESS users can download from the Hilgraeve
BBS, CompuServe forum, and the Internet.
Pricing; Availability
KopyKat 1.2 is priced at $199 for a two-user pack (host and remote)
and is available now. It can be purchased directly from Hilgraeve,
and through distributors and other resellers in the US, Europe and
Australia. It is also featured at Elektek, J & R Computer World,
MicroCentral, Software City, and other major retailers.
Registered KopyKat users can update to Version 1.2 for $29.95,
and HyperACCESS for OS/2 or HyperACCESS/5 users can purchase a KopyKat
two-user pack for $99.95 (plus $6 shipping inside US). Customers who
purchased KopyKat Version 1.1 within 60 days of Version 1.2's release
on November 13, can get the update free by paying only the shipping.
