Substantial New Beta Release of J Street Mailer
Harrison, New York, April 9, 1998, InnoVal Systems Solutions has released a
substantial new beta version of J Street Mailer. This new beta follows right
on the heels of Release One, the first production version of J Street Mailer
that was released on March 24 at JavaOne in San Francisco.
"We barely stopped to breath after putting out Release One," said Dan
Porter, President of InnoVal Systems Solutions, Inc. "Java redefines the
software development paradigm. Change is a constant state if one wants to
keep up with new developments in Java. For instance, Sun recently released a
maintenance revision for its HotJava browser component. I want our customers
to have a chance to test it in the J Street Mailer context as soon as
possible."
InnoVal has incorporated the improved HotJava browser component from Sun
Microsystems on an experimental basis. Users can toggle between J Street
Mailer's existing browser and the new HotJava component to evaluate
performance and reliability. "I'm hoping to get a quick decision from our
charter users," said Porter. "I'm hoping to have an updated production
release of JSM, complete with IMAP4 support, by May 1st."
In addition to the HotJava component, this beta release also includes:
* New vector sorting API's for improved folder sortings. And if an item has
been selected prior to sorting, the selection criteria is maintained after
sorting.
* Cut, copy and paste for the HotJava, text-mode viewer, and compose
windows.
* Optional support for FAT partition short file names so that data can be
shared between platforms that can access FAT (e.g. OS/2 and Windows NT).
* Enhanced Transaction Log. Entries for messages that get deleted or moved
to folders, accounts, or directories by filters, now specify that
information.
* Enhanced Virtual Folders. You can now select which "real" folders to
include when launching a virtual folder.
* Color Coding of Messages in Filters. Filters can now be used to mark notes
with color codes based on filter criteria.
* Problems opening a message with an attachment in the html browser window
now works properly.
* Better HTML Support. HTML formatted pages handle background images, form
elements, and HTML attachments correctly.
* Improved Message Window. Widths of columns in the message list panel of
the main window as well as virtual folders are now saved.
J Street Mailer Charter Users, including anyone who has purchased a license
for Release One, are welcome to try this new beta release at
