## This Month's CAOS... #############################################
#######################################################################
Agenda: April 9, 1998
It's spring! What better time of year to start growing new software
and new programming skills? We'll start the season right by doing some
digging through the OS/2 software development garden. This month we
examine programming tools, to see how OS/2 can help your ideas blossom
into real programs.
Here's the lineup:
* Rexx
Rexx is included with every copy of OS/2 and a great deal of OS/2's
installation and configuration is handled by Rexx scripts, so many of
us have used Rexx without even knowing it. This month we'll take a
closer look at Rexx and what can be done with it.
* Visual Age for Java
IBM's Visual Age for Java is one of the premiere visual development
products on the market. We'll review this unique development tool, and
see what sets it apart from its competition.
* Perl for OS/2
The perl language is nearly ubiquitous on Unix systems, and its
popularity on other operating systems is growing as well. We'll take a
quick look at the perl language, its history, and just a few of the
ways it can be used on OS/2.
* This month's DooDad - GNU Utils
The OS/2 GNU utils are dead ringers for their Unix counterparts. See
how they can be used to enhance your OS/2 programming environment.

UPCOMING MEETINGS:
May - Internet Apps & tools
June - Graphics/Design software
July & August - Summer Break - no meetings
#######################################################################
Admission is free and open to everyone. Each meeting begins with a Q & A
session and includes a draw for some terrific prizes (OS/2 software,
paraphernalia, etc.) If there is anything you want to see, please suggest
it or, better yet, show it off yourself!
