 ## This Month's CAOS... #############################################
 #######################################################################

  Agenda: March 12, 1998

It's all in the numbers... This month's CAOS takes off on a decidedly
mathematical tangent. We'll add up the pluses and minuses of two top
spreadsheet applications, then crunch the performance numbers with a
system benchmarking utility. And we even have DooDads that have a knack
     for knawing on numbers.

OK! Enough with the bad puns. Here's the bottom line (sorry...):

  o Lotus 1-2-3

Due to be released soon, Lotus' latest version of 1-2-3 for OS/2 has
been anticipated for some time, as the release of the entire SmartSuite
has experienced a number of delays. We'll find out if it's been worth
     the wait.

  o Mesa 2 2.2

Mesa 2 is a native spreadsheet that thrives in OS/2's advanced
environment to work just the way you expect. Mesa 2 offers
context-sensitive on-line help and pop-up menus as well as
interoperability with other OS/2 applications. How does it stack up
against veteran 1-2-3? We'll attempt to find out.

  o SysBench

Just how fast is your system? Get some real numbers with SysBench.
Sysbench measures CPU, memory, graphics, DIVE, disk, file I/O, and
     CD-ROM Performance.

  o This month's DooDads - Calculator utils

We'll take a look at a couple of nifty calculator utilities. OK, so
they're not exciting, they're not sexy, and they won't make you coffee
in the morning (you need Java applets for that), but they're useful,
and oh-so-handy when brain rot or old age takes its toll and you've got
     some quick math to do.

  UPCOMING MEETINGS:

April - Programming: Rexx, Perl, Java, C/C++

May - Internet Apps & tools

     June - Graphics/Design software

July & August - Summer Break - no meetings
