While IBM has made it clear that it is not interested in supporting the SOHO
market, Stardock is looking to move in and fill the void.
Stardock's first step in this direction is to lower Object Desktop's price
from $89.95 to $39.95. This way, the barrier to entry largely goes away and
all active OS/2 users can ensure that their OS/2 environment is vastly
superior to anything available on Windows.
Windows 95/NT with Internet Explorer 4.0 poses a significant challenge to
the Workplace shell. While not truly object oriented like OS/2 is, it does
have features that bring it closer to where OS/2 is. By adding Object
Desktop, OS/2 users move a generation ahead.
Object Desktop was designed from the ground up to integrate seamlessly into
OS/2 and provide features that OS/2 users want. Originally created based on
the "OS/2 wish lists" posted to Usenet, Object Desktop provides features
such as:
* Virtual Desktops
* Treating ZIP, LZH, ZOO and other compressed files as standard OS/2 folders
* A Tab LaunchPad
* Performance optimizations for OS/2's user interface
* A Keyboard LaunchPad (assign a hot key to a program to be launched)
* Object Package (backup your desktop to a single file and a lot more)
* Enhanced look (Makes OS/2 just plain nicer cosmetically)
Object Desktop is the top selling OS/2 shrink wrapped product of all time
and has received numerous accolades from the press including "Best OS/2
Utility" from PC Magazine and the highest rating ever given to any product
(on any platform) from InfoWorld.
Users can order and download Object Desktop from Stardock's commerce server.
The secure server allows people to enter in their credit card and instantly
download the program.
Visit http://www.stardock.com to upgrade your system to Object Desktop.
Object Desktop runs on OS/2 2.11 all the way through OS/2 Warp 4 with FP 5
(and beyond). It's SOM design ensures that no version of OS/2 will ever
break it.
