---------------------------------------------------------------------
Count is a multipurpose web server CGI program for use as a graphical web
page hit counter, date display, clock display, or formatted number
generator. It also provides some basic graphic manipulation options such as
borders and rotation.
I am looking for some testers for a quick beta of Count 2.4 for OS/2 before
replacing the current 2.3 version. I want to release Count 2.4 for OS/2
very soon (2-3 weeks), so all beta testers must be familiar with Count 2.3
and should already have a working Count 2.3 for OS/2 installation. The
current release of Count 2.3 for OS/2 is available at
http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/os2/apps/internet/www/util/wwwcnt23.zip.
Testers can request the beta of Count 2.4 for OS/2 by sending e-mail to
dshields@direct.ca with the subject "Send me Count 2.4 Beta#1".
New in version 2.4 (OS/2) :
Every Count 2.3 problem report I received was due to EMX installation
problems. Count 2.4 no longer requires the EMX runtime library to be
installed.
New in version 2.4 (all platforms) :
* Security and bug fixes.
* The maximum number of digits the counter can count and display can be very
high. By default the maximum number of hits can be (10^80)-1.
* Wild cards can be used in the IPs in ignore host block in the config file.
There is no limit for number of IPs.
* Wild cards can be used in the hosts/IPs in the auth block of the config
file. There is no limit for number of hosts/IPs.
* The counter can count with image= parameter if df= parameter is specified.
* Consecutive "Reload" from the same host will not increment the counter.
"cache" and expires" parameters can be used to change the caching behavior
of certain browsers.
* Date in clock is Year 2000 safe.
