Looking for a good collection of fonts to use with OS/2? I think I found a
better deal than what you can get from the standard OS/2 software vendors
(Indelible Blue, J3, etc).
Southern Software, Inc. (http://www.ssifonts.com/) makes a CD with over
3,300 fonts, all of which are in PostScript and TrueType format. In
addition, the PostScript fonts all come with the AFM files that OS/2 needs -
many font CD's don't include the AFM files because Windows doesn't use them.
The best that Indelible Blue offers is a CD with only 2,000 fonts, and
they're only available in TrueType format. If you want PostScript fonts
instead, then your limited to 500. And SSI's CD costs about the same.
NOTE: SSI does not officially support OS/2, but I have tested their fonts
with OS/2 (and with the FontFolder 3.0a), and they work great. If you do
order this CD from SSI, PLEASE let them know you're an OS/2 user and that
you bought the CD because it includes the AFM files. Before I ordered the CD
and asked about the AFM files, they were considering removing those files
because they thought that no one was using them!
