OS/2 Warp: present and future - in englischer Sprache
-----------------------------------------------------
OS/2 Warp with more than 11 million installations has been constantly and
quietly gaining market shares with corporations. In the near future there are
many new enhancements expected by IBM, like DAX, Warp Server, introduction of
Open Doc, OS/2 Warp for the Power PC, and much more.
Rob Shook, IBM EMEA (Basingstoke, UK)
-------------------------------------
Rob Shook is a consulting Manager for IBM Software Sales in IBM's EMEA (Europe,
Middle East and Africa) organization. He is based in Basingstoke, United
Kingdom and has a thorough knowledge of IBM's plans with regard to OS/2 Warp.

Star Division's OO-Strategie
----------------------------
[Star Division has embraced OO technology in a very early stage already, and is
therefore able to port its products to OS/2, the Windows-family, Macintosh and
Unix from the very same source code. The talk will be in German.]
Uwe Fasterling, Star Division (BRD)
-----------------------------------
[Uwe Fasterling belongs to the close leadership team of the company founder M.
Boerris. He will talk about the company strategy w.r.t. the usage of
OO-technologies, about their experiences and the near future (OLE, OpenDoc,
Object REXX).]

Inter-Notes (Lotus Notes und das Internet)
------------------------------------------
machen.
[The focus lies on "information" (data, update, transport), the inner view
(groupware) and the outer view (internet). In the center of the talk the
possibilities to update data only once and supply them automatically - with an
attractive layout - via internet to customers and insterested parties. The
talk will be in German.]
Michael Uebleis, Computer Austria
---------------------------------
[Michael Uebleis is CEO of Computer Austria, which was formed by a merger of
Dataservice and EDVG. COMPUTER Systemvertrieb AUSTRIA has established - among
other things - a competence center for Lotus Notes years ago.]

Open Doc
--------
[For years Open Doc has been developed as an open standard for developing
OO-oriented systems and its concept surpasses OLE by a wide margin. Open Doc
is about to be released for OS/2, Apple Macintosh, AIX and Windows. In this
talk the concept of Open Doc and base technology (SOM) will be sketched. The
talk will be in German.]
Karl-Heinz Troyer, Klausner & Troyer

Klausner & Troyer und ein Fachmann fuer objektorientierte

Doc und OLE verfuegt.

technology company Klausner & Troyer and an expert for OO development

Java - in englischer Sprache
----------------------------
Java is hot. Java is sometimes seen as the future of more intelligent Web
browsers for the Internet. Although not a product yet (scheduled for spring
1996 by Sun), there are many developers actively porting Java to different
platforms and companies are expressing interest in supporting Java. What is
Java and what can it do for your business?
Mike F. Cowlishaw, IBM Labor (Hursley, UK)
------------------------------------------
Mike F. Cowlishaw is a renowned IBM fellow, who has invented and developed
REXX, which has been ported to almost every single operating system there is in
the world. He has been actively following technological trends for years and
was kind enough to share some of his programs via IBM's EWS (employee written
software) like PMGlobe and GoServe, the excellent (and free!) WWW-server which
the OS/2 Forum Austria is employing on its own WWW-server
(http://www.os2forum.or.at).

Object REXX - in englischer Sprache
------------------------------------
Object REXX is hot. It is incredible! Right now very late beta-test versions
are floating around and it will be available for OS/2 Warp (Intel + Power PC),
Linux (even a free port !) and Windows. It is REXX with objects and
interfaces seamlessly with the industry standard SOM (therefore e.g with the
Workplace Shell) ! Best of all, it is slated to be the OSA (open scripting
language) of choice for IBM's Open Doc implementations.
Rick McGuire, IBM Labor (Endicott, USA)
---------------------------------------
Rick McGuire has been the lead developer of Object REXX for the past
years. The Object REXX project originally started back in 1988 at IBM, the
earliest prototype was written in 1989. Since then a tremendeous amount of
(conceptual) work and development shaped a fascinating new language, of which
no one else could talk more competent about than Rick McGuire himself.
