---------------------------------------------------------------------
InstallShield, the developers of the well known installation software for
Windows have released for evaluation a Java version of InstallShield for
installing and distributing Java applications. It requires JDK for OS/2 1.02,
I've been running it under JDK 1.1.1 and it runs very well. You download one
class and run it (drag and drop it onto the Run Java PM Program) icon and it
will install itself. When it's finished, look for a directory named Jshield
wherever you installed it, look in the bin directory and run the cmd file
there. The installation detected that I was running an IBM VM under OS/2 and
set up its command file appropriately. I didn't have to make any changes to
run it.

There is one problem that could crop up due to a bug in the 1.1.1 version of
the VM. InstallShield has a small section for OS/2 in the release notes and it
mentions this problem. Other than that, it looks good. I must say, this is one
of the most well developed Java apps I've ever seen. Take a crack at it and
see what you think.
