---------------------------------------------------------------------
The new version 1.10 of Internet Gate for OS/2 was released today. Among small
bugfixes, the following new additions where made to the program:
Automatic dialer
Now Internet gate can automatically connect to your Internet Service
Provider when it senses that someone on your LAN is going to navigate
the Internet. It can also disconnect the phone line after a
configurable amount of idle time, resulting in a considerable saving in
the phone line bills.
DNS (Domain Name Server) proxy
With this new proxy server, Internet Gate can act as your LAN's domain
name server. This is not just a 'slimmed-down' DNS server, suitable for
your LAN's use only, rather it is a fully operable DNS server that maps
to your ISP's DNS server.
IRC (Internet Relay Chat) proxy gateway
Need to say more?
Internet Gate is a multiple proxy and gateway server, for the OS/2 Warp 3 and 4
operating system, that allows computers on a Local Area Network (LAN) without
internet connection to be connected to the internet through a single Dial-Up or
ISDN connection.
Stay tuned for next release's planned additions:
HTTP caching
DNS caching
Fully configurable mapped links
More configurable proxy servers
