OS/2 PRODUCT PRIORITY LIST PUBLISHED
PALM HARBOR, FLORIDA (May 13, 1997) - M. Bryce & Associates, Inc. (MBA) today
announced the release of the "OS/2 Product Priority List," a listing of
suggestions for improving OS/2 by users of the product. The purpose of the
listing is to provide the vendor, IBM, with input in what the customers would
like to see implemented in the product. From this, the publishers hope to
facilitate a better dialog between the vendor and its customers.
"To my knowledge, this is the first published listing of customer suggestions
for improving the product," said Tim Bryce, Editor of the OS/2 CONNECT
newsletter that published the list. "We simply wanted to put it on the record
what customers really want from the vendor."
IBM's Personal Software Products division maintains a submission form for
making suggestions and reporting problems
(http://www.austin.ibm.com/pspinfo/pspform.html). "The only problem with
this," contends Bryce, "is that there is no follow-up mechanism, customers keep
inputting suggestions but have no idea where they go from there as a collective
whole. The idea with our list is to make the ideas public and establish a
dialog between customers and with the vendor."
Beginning with the May issue of OS/2 CONNECT, the publishers solicited
suggestions from its readership through a form in the newsletter. "The response
was interesting," said Bryce, "We received e-mail from OS/2 users all over the
world, not just North America."
The suggestions were then catalogued into Bryce's "PRIDE" Information Factory,
an OS/2 based product that includes a Repository to catalogue information
resources (such as suggestions) and a "Priority Modeling" tool to calculate
priorities based on a weighting factor.
"We anticipate considerable discussion with our first set of priorities,"
explained Bryce, "Fortunately, the 'Priority Modeling' tool allows us to update
priorities under changing conditions. We therefore, intend to update the
priority list each month based on customer input."

The publishers invite representatives from IBM to review and comment on the
list and any or all of the suggestions. This feedback will be conveyed in
future issues of OS/2 CONNECT.
