I have broken the PORT I/O speed barrier. The long awaited 32bit iopl is now
up and online. This article explains how to do PORT I/O directly from your
32-bit ring 3 application. This method can be up to three times faster than
the current call gate method employed by WFASTIO$. When speed really counts
this can be a life saver.

If you are interested drop by http://avenger.mri.psu.edu/os2page.html .

Also check out all the other info I have on I/O under OS/2:

Using TESTCFG$

16-bit IOPL segements

Device Drivers- Including the Hello World Device Driver

Call gate I/O

the New Direct I/O method

Meeting all of your Data Acquisition needs.
