I try not to be controversial. But since my policy regarding crossposting
announcements into other OS/2 newsgroups is causing some heat, I see that I
have become so unwittingly.
I began crossposting to the followup-to: group some months ago, even if the
poster didn't request it. I had several reasons which seemed good at the time:
The main one being that followup-to: in COOA is always set to "poster" or
another comp.os.os2.* newsgroup. It seemed reasonable to crosspost to the
group which would contain the discussion...
The two or three persons who sent me email about my crossposts seemed either
favorable or neutral... so I thought the crossposting was working well or at
least acceptably.
Since I obvously was mistaken, and my addition of other OS/2 groups to
crosspost lists is causing problems for third parties, I apologize to the
readers of the comp.* OS/2 newsgroups.
NOTE: Most of the crossposting (which the thread complains about) originated
with me... NOT the ISVs and Resellers or the shareware authors or other
posters. I originated it in a belief that it would be useful to some comp.*
OS/2 newsgroup readers.

CHANGED POLICY:
Beause the crossposting practice is a problem. I will roll back to previous
policy and practice. Crossposting will be in general disallowed. Followup-to:
will continue to be set to the most appropriate newsgroup.
