DATE: 04/01/97
TIME: 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM CST
LOCATION: IBM Customer Center
1111 Lincoln Mall
Lincoln, NE
TARGET AUDIENCE: Business and I/T Professionals
DESCRIPTION:
Control your network costs of ownership with an IBM server solution. Multiple
consultants have documented that out of the five year costs of ownership, the
actual purchase price of software and hardware is only 14% the total costs.
How can you get the other 86% under control? In this "day in the life of a
network operator" we will demonstrate on Windows, Windows 95, NT and Warp
clients, how IBM software can help you get procedures in place to control
those costs. There is no smoke and mirrors here, only real scenarios with
real live solutions your network operations will be able to relate to.
Network Computing. You've read about it in the trade press, heard about it on
the news, but if you are like a lot of our customers, you still want to
understand how it will solve any of your business problems. First, we will
position Network Computing within your own business. Where will network
computing most likely fit? What benefits does it bring to a company? Is it
applicable to your own business? What are the other companies within other
industries saying about network computing?
If you asked five people today to define "client-server", you would most
likely end up with five different definitions. Network Computing is also
taking on some very different definitions. In this prototype demonstration,
we will show you how Network Computing, after it is properly positioned, can
cut PC costs of ownership and reduce the application development and
deployment times within our company. This demonstration will help you
understand one of the directions the IBM company is taking with Network
Computing, its relationship to Java, and the future of applications for the
year 2000.
