I've uploaded a port of zsh3.1.0 to HOBBES. It is a first cut at getting it
working and does have bugs as documented in the readme included below.

Zsh is a popular UNIX shell -- check out http://www.mal.com/zsh/ for details.
This is an alpha release of my port of zsh for OS2. It isn't fully tested and
it DOES have bugs. The most glaring of them is the inability to run some
programs in the same session as itself. Note that this is also a problem with
the earlier port of zsh (zsh01.zip on HOBBES) when used with emx0.9c.
I've hacked my way around the problem by adding a feature that allows any
program to be started in a separate session by capitalizing the first letter
of it's name. (This does not include directory path.) If, in addition you
append the extension ".EXE" to the typed name, the session window remains open
on exit.
You must do this with subshells of 'zsh', 'unzip' (if it asks for a y or n),
and with 'elvis', the vi look-alike. On my machine, 'less' occasionally has
problems, though not as serious.
For example, I have the following aliases defined:
alias elvis=Elvis # starts in another session
alias zsh=Zsh # ditto
alias unzip=\Unzip.EXE # starts in another session and doesn't close on exit
Installation may or may not be a snap. I have it running on two machines: a
pentium with Warp 4.0 and a 386 with Warp 3.0. First, I think you need at
least one HPFS partition (for tmp files) but I'm not sure. If you are going to
rebuild it, I know you do. Second, you must have emx0.9c or better for it to
run.
I defined some new environment variables as well.
ZSH_HOME must be set to the root where your etc directory will live and
ZSH_TMP is set to control location of all tmp files.
Although I'm not willing to call this a final product, it is unlikely that I
will spend much more time on it. However, if you find a bug and fix it, send
me the patch and I'll at least maintain it. Please no flames about poor
documentation of my changes. I did just enough work to get the features I use
regularly running.
My thanks to all those whose efforts this builds on, particularly EM for EMX
(I hope someone is paying you for all your work) and the people who brought us
zsh.
