Attention FidoNet Nodes!
The OS2INET echo is now on the Elist and the Z1 Echomail backbone.
It is my hope this echo will help off-load TEAMOS2 and other OS/2 echos of
IAK and Internet related traffic, allowing them to concentrate on their
topics while offering a focal point for OS/2 and the Internet.
The following is the echo description:
=====================
OS2INET Echo Details:
This echo is intended for and limited to the discussion of OS/2 integration
with the Internet. On topic are support utilities, problem solving,
configuration issues, interesting FTP, WWW, Gopher and other sites, and HTML
coding including graphics and VRML.
Server and client applications are perfectly on topic so long as the
operating system is OS/2. The method of connection includes the IAK, TCP/IP
(all verisons including HAM Packet), and Winsock utilities.
The idea is to provide mutual support and a discussion venue for the technical
side of the Internet and how best to exploit and debug it with OS/2 and OS/2
applications. Near-topic discussion is not discouraged where self-moderated as
this meant be an interesting echo as well as informative. No comparisons for or
against other operating systems are on topic, those threads being best suited
to OSDEBATE.
Philosophical issues regarding the Internet including but not limited to such
subjects as politics, socially acceptable content, censorship, religion,
pornography, gun control, etc., which tend to hopelessly divide people of
opposing views and contribute little else but noise are not on topic and shall
be avoided.
==================
This echo is currently availble via dial-in and/or VModem using standard Fido
technology in Seattle WA, Vancouver BC, San Jose CA, Rindge NH, Belton MO,
Watertown SD if you are impatient for it to make the backbone rounds. Details
are available at 1:343/179.
Fidonet BBS operators and users are encouraged to link and use the
OS2INET echo for purposes of discussing OS/2 and the Internet.
