ANNOUNCE: New Release of Surf'nRexx from InnoVal Systems Solutions, Inc.

Harrison, NY, January 21, 1997. InnoVal Systems Solutions, Inc. has released
version 1.3 of Surf'nRexx. This is a free update for licensed users. For
additional information please see http://www.innoval.com

WHAT'S NEW IN THIS RELEASE:

  - webcopy/webnew/webinfo/webcrawl now handle password-protected
    URLs: specify http://userid:password*www.domain.suf/dirname/
as the URL you want to retrieve

  - webcopy/webnew/webinfo/webcrawl now use HTTP 1.0 instead of .9, in order
to be able to do the password-protected URLs; it also means you can do
everything else HTTP 1.0 can do, such as tell "fibs" about what "browser"
you are, if you've a mind to do so

  - webcrawl now handles mixed-case directory and page names

  - webcrawl now handles .shtml files (server side includes)

  - webcopy/webnew's version 1.2 fix for the mixed-case problem was still
    flawed; now all better

  - webcopy/webnew/webcrawl used to attach / to the beginning of a path name
even if it already started with /, which made it start with // so that it
    didn't work anymore

  - webcopy/webnew/webinfo now detect "Document Moved" return codes and ignore
the moved page and automatically retrieve the page to which it moved

  - webcrawl now reports the HTTP 1.0 return code so that you can tell if a
page contained nothing but "Not Found" or "Document Moved" or other
important things like that, instead of saying nothing but "Active"
whenever any sort of page at all was retrieved

  - sendnote in the free upgrade version had a little typo that would have
made outgoing notes have a month of "0" instead of "Apr" when April gets
    here

  - webcrawl's default maximums (for number of levels of links, and number of
links to check) were too low; changed from 4 and 50 to 6 and 150

  - webcrawl no longer checks for links in web pages on other servers; this
makes it possible to check your entire site without also checking the
entire site of every other site to which yours links

  - webcrawl had a problem with interpreting the correct pathname on links
which didn't specify one; for example, a reference which said "index.htm"
would be interpreted as "/index.htm" even though the current page was in a
    subdirectory
