The OS/2 Bay Area User Group has the following activities scheduled for
December:

11th, Developers SIG: Navigator for OS/2 Plugin Development, Mike Kaply, IBM
(This meeting will be at Netscape)
16th, General Meeting: Netscape Navigator for OS/2, Martin Warnett, Netscape
(Note that this is the THIRD Monday)

=============================================================================

Netscape Communications Corporation is visiting the OS/2 Bay Area User Group
in a big way this month. They will show our developers how to create plugins
for Navigator, they will show our users how to get the most out of the
product, and they will show us all a sample of plugins that are being
developed, as well as some of their plans for the future.

Developers SIG Meeting
December 11th, 1996
6:30 - 8:30 PM

Special Location
Netscape Communications Corp.
501 East Middlefield Road
Mountain View, California

This Developers SIG meeting will allow you to learn about writing Netscape
plugins from real Netscape developers, right there at Netscape. What a deal!
The presenters will be Mike Kaply of IBM and Martin Warnett of Netscape, and
perhaps other Netscape developers.

We've seen how important Netscape Navigator and Java are to OS/2. Here's a
great way to develop some valuable skills.

Meeting Location and Time: Special Location

We will hold this meeting at Netscape's offices at 501 East Middlefield Road,
Mountain View. From 101 take the Ellis Avenue exit. Proceed down Ellis to the
light. Netscape is right in front of you, either side of the fountain. Make a
left at the light and a right into the parking lot.

There's no charge for the meeting, and you don't have to be a user group
member.

OS/2 Consultants Directory

The Developers SIG maintains the OS/2 Consultants Directory, which is
available to the public and is provided to companies inquiring about OS/2
developer expertise. The directory is available on our web site and in printed
form at meetings. User group members who are OS/2 developer consultants are
encouraged to list themselves in the directory. This is a free service.

General Meeting
Monday December 16th, 1996
(Note that this is the third Monday)
Q & A Forum: 7:00 to 7:30
Presentations: 7:30 to 9:30

Stanford Linear Accelerator Center Auditorium
2575 Sand Hill Road
Menlo Park, California

Just after the second beta release of Netscape Navigator for OS/2, we are
pleased to bring you actual Navigator developers to present the product. They
will demonstrate Navigator, show third party plugins, and discuss Netscape's
plans for the future.

This is what they have planned for us:

  Demonstrate Navigator for OS/2
Demonstrate some third party OS/2 plugins
Discuss the future of Navigator for OS/2
  Answer questions

Netscape's Martin Warnett says:

There is a lot of exciting stuff to show that many may not have seen before.
Navigator is a very powerful product and the average user only scratches the
surface. Add in OS/2 Workplace Shell extensions, VoiceType, seamless Win31
plugins, 3rd party native OS/2 plugins and you have a very exciting demo.

About the Speakers

Martin Warnett has been an OS/2 developer since 1986 and has worked for
several Bay Area developers including Software Pursuits, Frame Technology and
Netscape Communications. He has worked on OS/2 mainframe connectivity and
distribution products, FrameMaker for OS/2, ("it really does exist," he says)
and currently Netscape Navigator for OS/2.

Mike Kaply is a long time IBM OS/2 developer currently working with Netscape
on Navigator for OS/2 in Mountain View. He is the Mail and News developer.

Directions To Meeting

Take the Sand Hill Road East exit off I-280. The second traffic light after
the one at the interchange is the entrance to SLAC. Turn right. Stop at the
guard house and tell the guard that you are going to the OS/2 Bay Area User
Group meeting. The Auditorium is in the central area of the complex and is the
building straight ahead of you when you are at the guard house.

Admission Fee:

General meetings are free for members and $3 for non members.
