TORONTO An aunt of the Boston Marathon bombing suspects says the
older brother recently became a devout Muslim who prayed five times a
day.Maret Tsarnaeva told reporters at her Toronto home on Friday that her
brother Anzor Tsarnaev had high expecations for his sons, especially 26-year-old
Tamerlan.She says her brother was desperate when he found out Tamerlan dropped
out of his university.She says Tamerlan married and had a daughter in
the U.S.She called the boys smart and athletic, and she wants proof
they are involved in the bombing."Within the family, everything was perfect,"
the aunt says.

to the White House and engage in talks, ask him what he
wants and give it to him so he leaves you in peace?

Russian President Vladimir Putin in 2004 talking to foreign reporters about
U.S. calls for a diplomatic solution to the conflict with the breakaway
republic of Chechnya after terrorists from the region killed 380 hostages
at a school in the town of Beslan in southern Russia.Perhaps no
region in the world can claim a history so tragic and violent
as Chechnya and the rest of the northern Caucuses.The last 20 years
has seen nearly constant bloodshed as the mostly Muslim population sought
to break away from Soviet and then Russian control. The result has
been some of the most brutal attacks on civilians in modern times.Dozens
of bombings and terror raids around Russia have claimed countless lives,
but two incidents stand out in the collective memory of Westerners:-- A
2002 raid on a Moscow movie theater, in which Chechen militants took
850 civilians hostage. Some 130 hostages died, mostly as a result of
chemicals pumped into the theater by police to subdue the attackers after
more than two days. Russian authorities killed all 40 hostage takers.--

this effort is not over''-- President Obama in the Rose Garden denouncing
the bipartisan Senate vote to block expanded background checks for firearms
purchases.An angry President Obama vented his frustrations with Congress
after several of his fellow Democrats helped block gun-control legislation
in the Senate. Denouncing the lies of his political opponents and calling
the day shameful, Obama vowed to fight on.But there seems to be
little fear of Obamas anger.The president promised that he would mobilize
his supporters to push his agenda, defy history to make midterm election
gains and thereby avoid lame-duck status. But its apparent that many of
his fellow Democrats either dont think he is serious or dont believe
he can make it stick.Theres reason for them to disbelieve.Obamas strategy
of battering Republicans with a series of painful votes to make midterm
gains for his party depends on getting Democrats to take politically risky
stances. If Obama cannot threaten or entice Democrats to vote his way,
though, the plan cannot work.As the vote on gun control approached, Obama
did hit the campaign trail as promised to speak in support. But
it was a muted measure. Obama didnt visit the home states of
Democratic holdouts or use his online network to hold major rallies or
organize his community to knock on doors.After the first test of Obamas
new model, he has nothing to show. Had
g released, and that only low-priority individuals are given a reprieve.
The administration also issued a directive allowing some illegal immigrants
who came to the U.S. as children to stay.Critics, though, warn that
legalizing the millions of illegal immigrants already in the country without
establishing a strict system of interior enforcement will allow the problem
to fester all over again.While the path to citizenship and other provisions
draw the most scrutiny from congressional Republicans, the nearly 900-page
bill contains a number of other measures -- including a new system
of temporary visas for low-skill workers and expanded visas for high-skill
workers.The bill, unlike the recently stalled gun control legislation, comes
out of the gate with prominent bipartisan backing. Rubio was one of
four Republicans drafting the bill, and some other Republicans have expressed
a willingness to consider an immigration overhaul, with the goal of leveraging
the immigrant workforce to help the economy and cutting red tape.
