 fans will pay
$165 in the cheaper category. Brazilians over the age of 60, local
students and members of some social programs will be allowed to pay
about $82 for a ticket. Prices for the opener in Sao Paulo
go from $220-$495, with Brazilians paying $80 and discounted tickets costing
$40.About 500,000 tickets in total were set aside for the category available
solely to Brazilian citizens.Applications quickly started pouring in after
tickets went up for grabs at 1000 GMT Tuesday. Some fans had
to be placed in a virtual queue "due to an exceedingly high
demand for access to the ticketing page," FIFA said on its website.FIFA's
press office said that in the first hour of sales there were
14,104 requests for a total of 81,821 tickets. Each applicant can request
for up to four tickets for a maximum of seven matches. The organization
expects a total of nearly 3.3 million tickets to be available for
the tournament in Brazil, but only about 1 million are offered in
the first stage of sales.FIFA said before sales opened that it expected
a demand for tickets similar to that seen for the 2006 World
Cup in Germany, when there were about seven applicants for every ticket
of the monthlong tournament attended by more than 3.3 million fans. Almost
2 million tickets were sold to the general public for the World
Cup in South Africa in 2010, although the number of applications during
the first ticketing phase was significantly lower.Sales of leftover tic
MEXICO CITY The Mexican government has lowered its forecast for the
nation's economic growth this year to 1.8 percent. That's down from the
3.1 percent gain it predicted earlier this year. The National Statistics
Institute says the country's GDP expanded only 1.5 percent in the second
quarter of 2013, compared to the same quarter of 2012.Compared to the
first quarter, GDP actually contracted 0.74 percent in the April-June period.
Growth for the first half of 2013 averaged 1 percent, due to
weakness in the mining and construction sectors. The Finance Department said
Tuesday that the fundamentals of Mexico's economy remain solid and that
growth should pick up.

<p style="font-size:xx-small;"> his family believed he had started using drugs
again in the month before his death.According to investigators, the crash
occurred a day after Hastings returned from New York, where his wife
was living at the time, and hours before a brother was due
to join another family member in urging Hastings to go to detox.
Family members said Hastings had been using the hallucinogenic DMT recently,
though the drug was not detected in a blood test after the
crash. The names of family members who spoke to investigators were redacted
in the report. The report said a family member had last seen Hastings
passed out at home about three hours before the crash. The person
said Hastings had been smoking marijuana the night before the crash.Investigators
said Hastings was found after the crash with a medicinal marijuana identity
card in his wallet, and that the drug apparently was used to
ease post-traumatic stress disorder after his assignments in Afghanistan
and Iraq. The report also noted that Hastings had hit a pole while
driving several years ago and was possibly misusing Ritalin at the time.
He was later institutionalized for rehabilitative care.A family member told
investigators Hastings didn't have a history of suicide attempts but believed
he was invincible and could jump off a balcony and be fine.At
the time of his death, Hastings was working as a contributing editor
for Rolling Stone and wrote about politics for Buzzfeed. He won a 2010
