The Houses chief investigative committee on Tuesday accused the IRS of stonewalling
its probe into the agency's unfair targeting of Tea Party groups and
other politically-affiliated organizations, saying Congress has received
only a fraction of the documents it requested and many of those
are useless. The House Oversight and Government Affairs Committee letter
directly blames acting Commissioner Danny Werfel for the systematic manner
in which his agency has attempted to delay, frustrate, impede and obstruct
the committees investigation, despite his promising just weeks earlier to
fully cooperate. The actions of the IRS under your leadership have made clear
to the committee that the agency has no intention of complying completely
or promptly with the committees oversight efforts, wrote committee Chairman
Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif.The letter also states that obstructing a congressional
investigation is a crime and that the committee will be forced to
use a compulsory process should the IRS continue to use its tactics.A
high-ranking committee staffer told FoxNews.com that process could include
subpoenas."We are doing everything we can to fully cooperate with the committees,
and we strongly disagree with any suggestions to the contrary," an IRS
spokesman said in response to the letter. "Given that all documents must
be carefully reviewed to protect taxpayer privacy, this continues to be
a time and labor intensive review process."The spokesman

announcing the discovery.Wooly mammoths are thought to have died out around
10,000 years ago, although scientists think small groups of them lived longer
in Alaska and on Russia's Wrangel Island off the Siberian coast.A growing
chorus of scientists have been targeting the mammoth for so called de-extinction
in recent years, at the same time that others argue against tampering
with Mother Natures plans. Bringing back a dead species raises a host
of issues, wrote two ethicists recently.RELATED: Boy in Alaska Finds Mammoth
Tooth"The critical ethical issue in re-creating extinct species, or in creating
new kinds of animals, is to first determine through careful scientific study
what is in their interests and to ensure that they live good
lives in the world in which they are create," wrote Julian Savulescu,
who studies ethics at Monash University, and Russell Powell, a philosophy
professor at Boston University."If we are confident that a cognitively sophisticated
organism, such as a mammoth, would lead a good life, this may
provide moral reasons to create it whether or not that animal
is a clone of a member of an extinct lineage."

Magazines NewsFeed blog reports that for $155 per nightabout the price of
a three-star hotel prisoners serving time for misdemeanors can bunk in
a special section of the Fremont Detention Center. The lodging option is
part of an Alternative Confinement Program, which was created to increase
revenue and reduce overcrowding of nearby jails.Convicts with no criminal
gang connections, history of violence, or sex crime convictions can opt
to stay at the Fremont facility as an alternative to staying in
the larger Glenn E. Dyer Detention Facility in Oakland or the Santa
Rita Jail in Dublin, which houses 4000 inmates, many of whom have
gang affiliations. Fremont has a maximum capacity of 96 prisoners."It's
still a jail; there's no special treatment, Lt. Mark Devine, who oversees
the pay-to-stay program told a local newspaper, the Argus. "They get the
same cot, blanket and food as anybody in the county jail, except
that our jail is smaller, quieter and away from the county jail
population."Fremont spends just over $8 a day per inmate. The city could
earn an annual net profit of about $244,000 if they can house
16 inmates for two nights per week."This place is for a person
who has committed a petty theft or a DUI," Devine added. "It's
for people who need to serve one or five, or maybe 10
days in jail."Inmates can stay in p
Florida Gov. Rick Scott is asking civil rights leader Jesse Jackson to
apologize for reckless and divisive comments following the jury verdict
in the George Zimmerman murder trial.Jackson on Tuesday called Florida the
Selma of our time. The remark follows Jackson saying Florida was an
Apartheid State, after a jury earlier this month found Zimmerman not guilty
on all charges in the shooting death of black teenager Trayvon Martin.Jesse
Jackson owes every Floridian an apology for his reckless and divisive comments,
the Republican governor said in a statement. It is unfortunate that he
would come to Florida to insult Floridians and divide our state at
a time when we are striving for unity and healing. The Selma remark
refers to 1965 marches in Selma, Ala., over black voting rights and
other civil rights issues in which marchers were injured by police. The
term Apartheid State refers to the racial segregation in South Africa and
elsewhere that the United Nations in the 1970s declared a crime against
humanity.Zimmerman, a Hispanic, fatally shot Martin, who was unarmed, when
they became involved in a physical altercation while Zimmerman was on volunteer
neighborhood watch duty in Sanford, Fla., in the early evening hours of
Feb. 26, 2012.Jackson, who is black and was a 1984 Democratic presidential
candidate, made the comments while at the state capitol in Tallahassee. He
