For those who are interested, a final beta test of the soon-to-be-released
Official POV-Ray for Linux is available from ftp.povray.org in pub/povray/beta.
It contains separate source and binary archives. Note that you will also need
the documentation and scene files from pub/povray/Official/Generic-Unix if you
don't have POV-Ray v2.2 yet. The beta archives are also at ftp.uwa.edu.au.
The binary archive contains executables for command-line, SVGA, and X windows,
with support for 24-bit visuals on the latter. Please let me know of any
problems (other than the lack of a 'hit any key to continue' mode.) If I don't
get too many bug reports in the next few weeks it will be officially released.
NOTE : To those who may be confused, yes, there is already a version of POV
for Linux available, but it is not from the POV-Team nor officially supported.
This one will be once it's released officially.
