I put my new version of smbfs, ksmbfs-0.1.tgz, on sunsite.unc.edu:
/pub/Linux/Incoming. It should appear in /pub/Linux/ALPHA/smbfs soon.
It is the first version which operates directly in kernel mode and
does not depend on userfs. So it is MUCH faster than smbfs04. I hope
it more reliable than smbfs04, but you can never know how stable
kernel code really is. So be careful. As always, bug reports as well
as positive responses are very welcome.
Among new features are long filenames for servers which support them,
manpage, and slightly cleaned-up user interface.
