Subject: PeaZip 1.8 released
PeaZip is a cross-platform, portable archiver, released under LGPL for
Windows and Linux.
It features archive volume spanning, compression and authenticated
encryption; it can be used also to split/merge files, generate random
passwords, and compress executables (strip/UPX).

Full support: 7Z, 7Z-sfx, BZip2, GZip/TGZ, PAQ8F, PAQ8JD, PAQ8L, PEA,
QUAD, split (.001), TAR, ZIP;
Browse/extract support: ACE, ARJ, CAB, CHM, CPIO, ISO, Java archives
(JAR, EAR, WAR), Linux installers (DEB, PET/PUP, RPM, SLP), LHA, LZH,
Open Office file types, PAK/PK3/PK4, RAR, Windows installers (NSIS,
some MSI), Z/TZ;
PeaZip_portable packages are natively standalone: they contains the
very same application but doesn't need to be installed and can be used
from any path, even remote or removable, as USB sticks (available both
for Windows and for Linux).
Version 1.8 change log:
- Updated frontend to use 7z 4.47 beta, adding support for archiving
open for writing files (useful for backup jobs), fast, multithreaded
Deflate and Deflate64, read/write AES encrypted ZIP files - - (WinZip
AE standard);
- Added read support for ACE archives;
- Added suggest password function;
- Doubleclick action in archive browser is now customizable;
- New tabular layout for graphic wrapper, with compression ratio and
speed (logarithm) graphics;
- Added "Halt system when job finishes" option to job's graphic
wrapper.
- Open file, path or URL from PeaZip available also in Linux version
(using Gnome or KDE);
- Linux installers now provides full system integration in Gnome and
KDE.
