Subject: libannodex 0.7.3 Released

libannodex 0.7.3 Release
=========================

libannodex is a C library providing a simple programming interface for reading
and writing Annodex media. Annodex is an open standards based technology that
extends the World Wide Web's hyperlinking, searching, and compositing
infrastructure to time-continuous data, enabling video surfing, searching for
clips of audio and video files using ordinary Web search engines, and
on-the-fly composition of a video on a Web server from previously annodexed
clips. For more information on Annodex, see http://www.annodex.net/

This release is available as a source tarball at:

http://www.annodex.net/software/libannodex/download/libannodex-0.7.3.tar.gz

New in this release
===================

This is a bugfix and maintenance release.

        * anxrip: report timebase as 0 if unspecified
        * various build system fixes

        * Closed tickets:
        #163 use the correct granulepos on cmml eos packet.

About libannodex
================

The libannodex source distribution comprises the C library libannodex,
plugins for importing CMML and Ogg media (Theora, Vorbis and Speex), and
the command-line tools anxenc, anxrip, anxgrep and anxinfo.

libannodex provides the following features:

        * API documentation, with comprehensive examples

        * Developed and tested on GNU/Linux, Darwin/MacOSX and Win32. May
        work on other Unix-like systems via GNU autoconf. For Win32: nmake
        Makefiles, Visual Studio .NET 2003 solution files and Visual C++ 6.0
        workspace files are provided in the source distribution.

        * A simple, callback based open/read/close or open/write/close
        interface to Annodex media and embedded CMML clips.

        * Plugin based importing framework, providing temporal interleaving
        of multiple media and annotations data sources.

Full documentation of the libannodex API, customization and installation,
and reading and writing examples can be read online at:

    http://www.annodex.net/software/libannodex/html/

Tools
=====

The libannodex source tarball also contains the following command-line tools,
which are useful for creating and inspecting Annodex media:

        * anxenc: Encapsulate annotations and data into annodexed media.

        * anxrip: Extract annotations and data tracks from annodexed media.

        * anxgrep: Search for a pattern in annodexed media files.

        * anxinfo: Display information about annodexed media contents.

License
=======

libannodex is Free Software, available under a BSD style license.

Subject: Linux Gazette: Call for Papers
From: "Benjamin A. Okopnik" <ben@linuxgazette.net>

The Linux Gazette <http://linuxgazette.net> is calling for authors for its
upcoming issues. The articles should be Linux-relevant and addressed to a
wide audience which includes neophyte Linux users (i.e., any terms not in
common usage should be defined, and step-by-step instructions should be
given where applicable.)

Articles published in LG cover a broad spectrum of diverse interests within
the world of Linux; even if you're uncertain that your article fits
completely within the guidelines, feel free to submit it. We'll be glad to
check it out and let you know whether it's acceptable as is, how it can be
adapted to fit, or if it is not at all suitable.

For more information on the LG submission guidelines, acceptable format,
style guide, and other related issues, please see the LG Author FAQ at
<http://linuxgazette.net/faq/author.html>.

The submission deadline is 7 days before the end of the month. Early
submission is encouraged, since it allows for a round of correction (if it
proves necessary) and may turn an article that would otherwise be rejected
into one that can be published.

Subject: AMPC 1.3.8 released (C to JVM compiler suite)
From: Mohd-Hanafiah Abdullah <napi@axiomsol.com>
Reply-To: napi@axiomsol.com

We are pleased to announce the release of version '1.3.8' of
AMPC (Axiomatic Multi-Platform C) C to JVM compiler suite.

Detailed info can be found at:
http://www.axiomsol.com

The changes in this release are as follows:
"main(int argc, char *argv[])" is now supported. The arguments
used to be implicit. Also, fixed a bug in code generator for
"return".

Project description:

Axiomatic Multi-Platform C (AMPC) is a C compiler suite with
an IDE that generates Java bytecode to produce platform
independent applicatons. It supports a very large subset of
ANSI C (1989). It can be used to develop new applications
using C as well as port existing applications written in C
to run on JVM enabled devices. A JNI (JVM Native Interface)
feature is available for calling native C or C++ functions.
Also, many Java methods can be called from AMPC. The asm()
directive can be used to embed Jasmin assembly code within
C source code. It is useful for writing new applications
using existing C skill-sets and porting C programs.
