----------------------------------------------------------------------------
From: "Stefan Ruppert" <stefan.ruppert@myarm.de>
Subject: Announcement: MyARM 1.0.2 released
Date: Sun, 20 Nov 2005 13:49:28 -0600
The version 1.0.2 of MyARM is now available at http://www.myarm.de/.
See end of this announcement for current changes.
What is MyARM?
==============
MyARM is an Application Response Measurement (ARM) Version 4.0
compliant agent. ARM 4.0 is a standard developed within the
OpenGroup (http://www.opengroup.org/management/arm/) and is
established since end of 2003. This standard defines a C/C++
and Java API for instrumenting (distributed) applications. Most
notably, with this standard programming language, process and
host boundaries are not a restriction for transaction and sub-
transaction measurements any more - resulting in a real
end-to-end (business-) transaction measurement. For a detailed
description of the ARM standard please read the document
available on the OpenGroup site.
Solutions with MyARM!
=====================
Today standard applications such as web-servers (Apache),
databases (MySQL, SQLite) and other key applications (Mozilla)
are ARM 4.0 instrumented or instrumentation is underway. At
MyARM we provide single ARM 4.0 library licenses up to ready
to measure environments (Web/Databases) or programming
frameworks like our upcoming Qt-based C++-framework.
Features at a glance:
=====================
* Fully ARM 4.0 (C and Java) compliant
* Modular design (data handling and storage support through
plugins).
* Analysis tools providing the metric statistics you need.
* Developer options for custom analysis tools using our
C++ interface.
* High resolution timers (up to nano-second resolution).
* 30-day evaluation edition (ask us if you need more time).
* Ready to ship now.

Changes:
========
Version 1.0.2:
New:
* Added --all option to myarmdelete to delete all
application and/or transaction instances including their
properties and/or metrics.
* Added support for setting up the user id for all MyARM
daemon processes allowing the superuser to become an other
user. Recommended is creating and using a myarm user.
* Added new methods in ArmDataSource for counting number of
definitions.
* Added -p and --property option to myarminfo program
allowing to print out the value of the given property name.
* Added missing factory method for creating an application
data instance (new method
ArmDataSource::createApplicationData()).
* Optimized retrieving child transactions of a parent
transaction. Now its about 10 times fast as before (new
method ArmDataSource::getTranChildSet().
* Command line switches --depth, --no-metrics and
--no-context added to myarmquery.
Fixes:
* Stop time reported with arm_report_transaction() was
stored wrong in the backends. Fixed.
* Optimized myarmquery/CGI output: Now only retrieves
properties and/or metrics if requested in the command line
tool or in the CGI.
* Optimized retrieving of transactions in MySQL databases.
* Unlimited retrieval of nested child-transactions are now
supported.
* In general now command line switches overwrites
configuration values.
* Cleanup of arm4 library works now with dynamic loading
e.g. dlopen()/dlclose().
* MyARM arm4 library uses now no library version
information.
* libarm4 does not crash anymore if HOME environment
variable was not set.
