Reply-To: python-list@python.org,
Find a new release of python-ldap:
http://python-ldap.sourceforge.net/
python-ldap provides an object-oriented API to access LDAP directory
servers from Python programs. It mainly wraps the OpenLDAP 2.x libs for
that purpose. Additionally it contains modules for other LDAP-related
stuff (e.g. processing LDIF, LDAPURLs and LDAPv3 schema).
================================================================
Released 2.0.8 2005-06-22 at Linuxtag 2005, Karlsruhe, Germany
Changes since 2.0.7:
* Preliminary support for receiving LDAP controls added.
Contributor:
- Andreas Ames
Lib:/
- Added classes in module ldif to ldif.__all__ to fix
from ldif import *
- Removed BitString syntax from
ldap.schema.models.NOT_HUMAN_READABLE_LDAP_SYNTAXES
since the LDAP encoding is in fact human-readable
- ldapurl.LDAPUrlExtension.unparse() outputs empty string
if LDAPUrlExtension.exvalue is None
- Added ldap.controls.SimplePagedResultsControl
================================================================
Released 2.0.7 2005-04-29
Changes since 2.0.6:
* Added preliminary support for sending LDAP controls
with a request.
Contributors:
- Deepak Giridharagopal
- Ingo Steuwer
(Receiving controls in LDAP results still not supported.)
Modules:
* LDAPObject.c: removed l_ldap_manage_dsa_it()
* LDAPObject.c: Added missing #ifdef around l_ldap_passwd()
for compability with older OpenLDAP libs.
Lib:/
* New algorithm in ldap.schema.tokenizer.split_tokens()
contributed by Wido Depping which is more robust
when parsing very broken schema elements
(e.g. Oracle's OID).
* Fixed argument list (position of timeout) when calling
LDAPObject.search_ext_s() from search_st() and search_s().
* LDAPObject.search_ext_s() correctly calls search_ext_s() now.
* Re-implemented LDAPObject.manage_dsa_it() without calling _ldap.

Less than 60 days left to get your project in the contest.. Contest
closes on July 15th 2005.
IBM is sponsoring an Open Source Developer Contest for the Linux on
POWER (Linux PPC64) effort.
The contest[1] is designed to award and showcase new, innovative
open source applications that are designed or optimized
specifically for Linux running on the PPC architecture.
The contest also awards ports of existing applications from a
predetermined list. Contest prizes include Segway HTs[2], Apple
Power Mac G5s[3], and many cash awards.
Don't forget, less than 60 days left! Sign your project up today,
port it to PPC64, get your project judged by experts and get some
cool gear for your efforts...
Not sure where to start? Help another listed project[4] with their
port! There are lots of chances to contribute and win.

Subject: ANNOUNCE: liberror 2.0.16
Date: 22 Jun 2005 19:40:04 GMT
Hi!
I'd like to announce the release of the following library:
liberror - Message Printing
(c) Henrik Theiling
Current Release: 2.0.16
Site: http://www.theiling.de/projects/liberror.html
License: freely distributable open source
This is a library for C and C++ that solves the allegedly
simply task of printing messages. Thus, it is essentially
a feature-rich substitute for fprintf(stderr,...)
Features include colours via ANSI mark-up, multiple error
streams, report files, automatic error number assignment,
filtering by number, subsystems and groups,
buffering with manual filtering and re-issuing, callbacks,
error counters, time stamping, and message styles.
The library was mainly developed for Unix, but is regularly used
and tested under Windos, too (with MSVC). For compilation, you
still need a Unix account, since some files are generated for
Windos under Unix.
There is also a command line tool 'eprintf', that implements
a shell interface to the library, so you can easily have nicely
coloured error messages from shell scripts now.
Enjoy!
**Henrik

From: Barry Brachman <brachman@dss.bc.ca>
Subject: DACS 1.4.4 released
Reply-to: brachman@dss.ca
June 22, 2005
DSS is pleased to announce DACS version 1.4.4.
This release contains:
- the new Quick Start Tutorial, a step-by-step guide to installing and
configuring DACS (available at http://dacs.dss.ca/man/dacs.quick.5.html)
- continued development of dacs_admin, a REST-oriented web service that
supports GUI-based DACS administration tools, such as Metalogic Software
Corp's FedAdmin (also in development)
- improved documentation
- many bug fixes
DACS is:
o a flexible and powerful role-based access control system
o a set of feature-rich authentication methods
o an Apache 2.0.X module and suite of CGI programs
o a federated identity management system (single sign-on)
o oriented towards (but not limited to) controlling access to web service
requests made using standard web browsers
o a C/C++ toolkit for building new authentication and access control
functionality into programs, whether web-based or not
o for Unix-type platforms (currently), such as Linux, FreeBSD, and Solaris
DACS can help you to manage access to web resources in many situations,
whether you have just one web server, several web servers at one site, or
many web servers spread across the Internet. You may find it to be
useful simply as a universal authentication mechanism for a single Apache
server or as a full-fledged, single sign-on multi-server identity management
and access control system.
DACS 1.4.4 is released under dual licensing terms (a GPL-compatible open
source license and a commercial license).
DACS is hosted on SourceForge at http://sourceforge.net/projects/dacs
For more information, please visit the DACS home page at dacs.dss.ca

Subject: new LINUX programming framework - ".ORG"
What is this new ".ORG" framework (kinda a takeoff on .NET) for LINUX
that is basically a reorganization of the LINUX OS into a logical
organization of all the functionality into object libraries and
namespaces, and a language independent compiler of those classes into
an intermediate language - and a re-compiler to further compile that
into machine-specific code for fast execution? Where can you download
the beta?
