Subject: LessTif Release 0.94.2 is out
Date: Wed, 30 Mar 2005 23:10:47 CST
The LessTif Core Team is pleased to announce
Release 0.94.2
of the LessTif library!
The most important feature of this release is improved RenderTable handling.
Apart from that, a significant number of smaller changes/fixes were made :
* Add scripts/motif-config as suggested on comp.windows.x.motif .
* Add _MOTIF_DEFAULT_LOCALE in Xm/Xm.h
* Add support for the XmQTspecifyRenderTable trait in XmMenuShell, XmVendorShell,
and XmBulletinBoard.
* Implement XmeGetDefaultRenderTable().
* Improve the string-to-rendertable converter so it also picks up unqualified resources.
Until now it only converted stuff like
*One.renderTable: green, variable
*One.renderTable.green.renditionForeground: Green
now it also should convert
*One.renderTable:
*One.renderTable.renditionForeground: Green
In the latter case, the rendition's tag is _MOTIF_DEFAULT_LOCALE.
* Add a string to font-type converter (FONT_IS_FONTSET and such).
* Protect XmRenderTableGetRendition() against NULL tags.
* Implement XmRenditionRetrieve().
* Fix an #ifdef problem causing render tables not to get initialised correctly.
* Remove _XmProcessTraversal as it is not needed.
* XmProcessTraversal() didn't pass the result of one of its calls. Fix that.
* Implement a patch for the build system that was overlooked for too long.
* Add XmVersionString() : a function to report the library's version as
a string.
* Calculate font parameters for the whole of the fontset passed in XmText's FontInit().
This fixes the observation that XmText showed stuff in the wrong place when using
a fontset, as in Xbae's multibyte example.
* Fixes by Tobias Oed for XmText and widget size and font size handling.
* Add configuration file for <A HREF="http://www.autopackage.org">autopackage</A>.
Not working yet in my environment though.
About LessTif:
LessTif is a "free" (LGPL'd) implementation of the OSF/Motif standard
GUI toolkit for X11. LessTif aims to be source compatible with the Motif
(a product of The OpenGroup) versions 1.2 and 2.1.
Nearly all Motif apps compile and work out of the box with LessTif!
Some run-time problems however may still exist. The LessTif Core team is
interested in hearing about Motif applications which don't work with LessTif.
Bug reports are welcome - patches are even more welcome!

Subject: COMM: MailStripper Pro 1.3.0 released
Date: Thu, 31 Mar 2005 09:41:10 CST
We've just released MailStripper Pro 1.3.0. A long time in the pipeline,
this version includes many enhancements, bug fixes and new features that make
it far more flexible than ever before.
Some of the changes since 1.2.4 include:
# New scanning core 2-3 times as fast as the previous one.
# Text-mode config tool completely reorganised to follow the GUI
tool more closely.
# Plug-in interface with published API - this allows MailStripper's
capabilities to be expanded virtually without restriction.
# SURBL support - handled via a plug-in.
# Local Blocklist support. If you need to make changes for your local
setup, and want to take the updates from our server, now you can.
# Recipient Taglist - subject line tagging is no longer an all-or-
nothing setting.
# Solaris-X86 is added to the list of supported platforms, our builds
are built under Solaris 9.
SOLARIS/SPARC users: We are looking to upgrade the build server to
Solaris 9 - PLEASE get in touch if this will cause you problems.
The complete ChangeLog can be viewed from the Download page on our website, at

Subject: [ANN] Fail2Ban 0.3.1
Date: Thu, 31 Mar 2005 10:34:19 CST
The version 0.3.1 of Fail2Ban is available.
Fail2Ban is written in Python. It scans log files like /var/log/pwdfail
or /var/log/apache/error_log and bans IP that makes too many password
failures. It updates firewall rules to reject the IP address. Currently,
iptables, ipfwadm and ipfw are supported. It needs log4py.
