I am pleased to announce the release of version 4.2.15 of GNU
findutils. GNU findutils is a set of software tools for finding files
that match certain criteria and for performing various operations on
them. Findutils includes the programs "find", "xargs" and "locate".
The "stable" releases of findutils can be downloaded from
ftp://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/findutils. The ftp.gnu.org site is very busy,
so you may find it more convenient to download findutils from one of
the mirror sites listed at http://www.gnu.org/order/ftp.html.

Bugs in GNU findutils should be reported to the findutils bug tracker
at http://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?group=findutils. Reporting bugs via
the web interface will ensure that you are automatically informed when
the bug has been fixed. General discussion of findutils takes place
on the bug-findutils mailing list. To join the 'bug-findutils'
mailing list, send email to <bug-findutils-request@gnu.org>.
This is the first "stable" release of findutils since version 4.1.20.
The NEWS file within the distribution provides detailed information
about all the user-visible changes which have taken place, but this
announcement lists the most important ones.
General changes
===============
Better support for 64-bit systems; compilation fixes for Solaris, AIX,
Irix, BeOS, Dolphin and UNICOS. Better support for non-c99 systems.
The documentation has been made clearer and more detailed in places.
The Texinfo manual now has an extra "Security Considerations" chapter.
POSIX Compliance
================
* find is now POSIX-compliant, since "-exec {} +" has been
implemented.
* Underscore is no longer the default "logical EOF" marker for xargs.
The current POSIX standard allows us to have no default logical EOF
marker.
* xargs now has support for the POSIX options -E, -I and -L; the -s
option is now POSIX-compliant
Changes to find
===============
* Significant performance improvement as compared to previous versions
of findutils, if running under the Linux kernel (and probably *BSD;
perhaps also MacOS X)
* The -execdir option (from FreeBSD) has been implemented. This
is a security enhancement. Don't use -exec if you can avoid
it.
* New actions -delete and -quit; more format options for -printf
* Usage error message are now easier to understand
* find now copes with automounters more robustly.
Changes to xargs
================
* xargs now works better when the environment is very large. By
default, xargs now also uses a longer command line by default where
this is possible.
* xargs -i -n1 now works
Changes to locate
=================
* Glob patterns are correctly handled once more.
* New options --null, --basename, --limit, --count, --statistics,
--wholepath, --regex.
* locate now supports all the options which the *BSD versions of
locate do.

YES Corporation would like to announce the immediate availability of YES
Linux 2.1 Build 1. We are very excited about this release because for the
first time we feature Virtual Host support. User have the option of using
either a one step Web Based or a one step commandline interface. Using
either interface the Virtual Hosting System allows for the creation,
enabling, or disabling of Virtual Hosts in a completely modular
configuration. This means that no two Virtual Hosts share a configuration
information, making maintance of each Virtual Host easiler and have a
lower cost. We have fixed a configuration bug that affected
authentication using WebDav. Now WebDav authenticates properly for both
the primary website and all virtual hosts. We have created more
documentation for YES Linux available from
http://www.yeslinux.org/docs.php. We have upgraded SquirrelMail to the
latest edition, standardize on website naming convention, and Cleaned up
the extra directories associated with Apache.
In adition to the above changes the YES Linux Configuration system now
supports a dynamic message bus, allowing for dynamic events to be fired.
This means that administrators and thirdparty developers no longer have to
edit build files, they now have a choice. They can use the existing
method or they can create an Event (Directory) and place an unlimited
number of build files in that directory. Then once the driver task is
executed all the build files for that Event are dynamically loaded and
executed sequentially (Determined by the Number prefixing the build file
name with lower values having precedence).
We expect to have one final release of YES Linux 2.1 that will include web
statistics for each virtual host created. After that we will begin work
on YES Linux 2.2.

upcoming issues. The articles should be Linux-relevant and addressed to a
wide audience which includes neophyte Linux users (i.e., any terms not in
common usage should be defined, and step-by-step instructions should be
given where applicable.)
Articles published in LG cover a broad spectrum of diverse interests within
the world of Linux; even if you're uncertain that your article fits
completely within the guidelines, feel free to submit it. We'll be glad to
check it out and let you know whether it's acceptable as is, how it can be
adapted to fit, or if it is not at all suitable.
For more information on the LG submission guidelines, acceptable format,
style guide, and other related issues, please see the LG Author FAQ at

The submission deadline is 7 days before the end of the month. Early
submission is encouraged, since it allows for a round of correction (if it
proves necessary) and may turn an article that would otherwise be rejected
