z81 is a ZX81 and ZX80 emulator. There are actually two versions - z81
(for svgalib), and xz81 (for X). Also included are zx81get (a ZX81
tape reader), and saverom (a program to save the ROM from a ZX81).
*The ROMs are not included*, so you'll have to obtain those
separately.

2.1 is essentially a bugfix release.
* Changes in z81 2.1
Fixed several compilation warnings with gcc, as well as something gcc
now likes to call an "error" which prevented compilation of z81 2.0
with current versions. Thanks to Adam J. Richter and Brian Schau for
pointing out the problems.
Added a "saverom" program for the ZX81, which lets you save your
own ZX81's ROM.
Changed ZX80 VSYNC behaviour slightly, the Space Invaders clone for it
works now.
Various sound fixes - fixed post-death sound in QS Defender, fixed a
slight `spike' problem on VSYNC tones, and removed AY tone/noise
counter wraparound (which was mistaken).
Improved signal handling.

ABOUT LINA:
lina is the Linux version of ciforth(computer intelligence/common Intel
Forth), an interpreter environment, scripter and compiler for Forth.
It is (large and by) compliant with the ISO Forth standard; the
CODE wordset is fully implemented. The small, classic,
indirect threaded kernel contains the essential, i.a. file access and
exceptions. Its power is multiplied by an extensive source library,
that add i.a. a decompiler and integrated 386 assembler.
It comes with a comprehensive 150 page manual (for a 30kbyte =
executable!).
CHANGES:
Since the original annoucement lina has been used for substantial =
projects
(rebuild of manx, regular expression filtering, the reverse engineering =
tool
computer_intelligence_assembler_disassembler_386).
Few bugs have been found. Changes are mostly improvements in the
documentation and additions to the library.
Additions to the library:
- struct endstruct : a tool for building structures-with-methods
- bags : handles sets and bags
Bugs:
- !CSP reverted to original fig-forth compatibility

The first part of the hearing in the appeal procedure by Microsoft Vs
the EC has finished yesterday at 12.30pm. The Court heard from Jeremy
Allison, introduced by Carlo Piana from the Milan-based Tamos & Piana
law firm, on behalf of the Free Software Foundation Europe.
Allison's intervention has been very clear: Microsoft has worked
closely with the Samba Team in the past to achieve interoperability
between Windows systems and other operating system (including
GNU/Linux). "The SAMBA team and the FSFE are simply asking for the EC
to protect European consumers and to re-establish collaboration towards
a free and competitive market", says Stefano Maffulli, Chancellor of the
Italian Chapter of the FSFE. Moreover: "Neither the SAMBA Team, nor the
FSFE (which is representing SAMBA interests in the hearing), have ever
asked to see any part of Microsoft's source code. All that European
consumers need is to know the communication standards (protocols) used
by Microsoft Windows systems to implement their network services. This
is in order to allow non-Windows computer systems to interoperate with
Microsoft Windows systems."
