Subject: Linux.com call for submissions

Linux.com is looking for a few good writers. We welcome feature
articles, tips, and how-to articles. We're not as interested in your
experience as in your knowledge and ability. Even if you're a little
bit "raw" as a writer (or English is not your primary language), as
long as you get your thoughts down on paper clearly, we'll work with
you to build your writing skills. See http://www.linux.com/write.tmpl
for our writers' guidelines. Yes, we do pay for many items. If you
have a story idea to pitch, please send it to editors@osdn.com.

From: Richard Kettlewell <rjk@greenend.org.uk>
Subject: DisOrder 0.9.1
Date: Sat, 27 Mar 2004 20:08:02 CST

I have released version 0.9.1 of DisOrder, a digital audio jukebox for
Linux systems. This version contains only bug fixes to 0.9.

DisOrder allows multiple users to select tracks from a collection of
audio files, and have them played in order. If nobody chooses anything,
tracks can be picked at random. Playing tracks can be interrupted if
the listener(s) don't like them.

Features include:-

    * Template-driven web interface
    * Play any file format you can supply a player for
    * Multiple track collections
    * Command-line interface
    * Select tracks or have them picked at random
    * List current, queued and recently played tracks
    * Hierarchical navigation through track collections
    * Word search on filenames
    * Calculates track lengths for known formats and estimates start
      time of queued tracks
    * Scratch unpopular tracks
    * Convert track filenames into artist/album/title with regexps
    * Plugins for various features:
          o Calculating track length
          o Choosing tracks for random play
          o Sourcing tracks
          o Event notification
    * Supports multiple character encodings

DisOrder is written in GNU C and licenced under the GPL. It has only
been tested under Linux but could probably be run on other UNIX
platforms with a little effort.
