Subject: COMMERCIAL: SMTP-layer spam filter daemon: MailStripper
Eridani Star System is proud to announce the latest release of their email
server spam filtering product -
MailStripper Pro 1.1.1.
MailStripper operates outside the bounds of any specific mail server by
filtering the SMTP stream and acting as an SMTP proxy, thereby acting as
an effective filter whatever you choose to run as your mail server.
And it doesn't have to be on the same machine either.
Changes since 1.1.0
===================
* We've fixed a timeout issue on the local connection between MailStripper
and your MTA. Since MailStripper acts as a proxy, the MTA sees nothing while
MailStripper is receiving the email. On slower connections and larger
messages, this delay can be such that your MTA will time out the connection.
This has been resolved without using keepalives - which can make your MTA
think it is under attack.
* The GUI config tool is now much more logically laid out, and far less ugly
and crowded than the old one.
We thought about listing MailStripper's features here, but we didn't want to
spam you :-) However we are compelled to say that, besides being independent
of your mail server, it does not require cutting-edge versions of system
software either. Nor will a message which crashes MailStripper in an
unforseen way bring down your mail service - it will only crash the subprocess
that is scanning the message.
We won't claim our software has no bugs - that is the stuff of vapourware and
snake oil merchants. Of course those we know of are all resolved, but as new
ones are found we aim to fix them properly as quickly as possible - and all
minor-version upgrades are and will remain free.
MailStripper is licensed in two ways:
Commercial use: Licensed per mail server, irrespective of number of mailboxes,
aliases or CPUs the machine contains, a licence costs £35
(US$56) one-off, with no monthly/annual charge.
Personal use: Licensed per place of residence, a personal user may install
MailStripper on any machine at his/her home, including personal
laptops, but may not be used for commercial purposes. Such a
licence costs £12.50 (US$20) one-off, again with no
monthly/annual charge.
Evaluation licences are also available at no charge or obligation - these may
be used either for personal or commercial use but are time-limited to 21 days.
MailStripper Pro is available online at http://www.eridani.co.uk/MailStripper/
for Linux, FreeBSD and Solaris, and a free 21-day evaluation licence may be
obtained from the above website.
