From: Werner Heuser <Werner.Heuser@web.de>
Subject: Intel(TM) mentions Linux support for Centrino(TM) WLAN chip
Date: 10 Oct 2003 09:05:00 GMT
Intel has updated their Centrino Mobile Technology page[1] to mention
that: "A Linux driver for the Intel PRO/Wireless 2100 wireless network
connection is currently under development", albeit without an expected
date of release. This seems to be a result of the "Intel Support of
Centrino Under Linux Petition"[2], which has got almost 5,000
subscriptions during a few weeks. Laptops based on the Centrino(TM)
features are already very popular in the Linux community. For almost
all Centrino based laptops there are installation reports[3]
available.

From: Werner Heuser <Werner.Heuser@web.de>
Subject: MobiliX requests deletion of trademark Obelix
Werner Heuser the owner of the Open Source project "MobiliX - UniX on
Mobile Computers" ( http://mobilix.org ) has got a second chance to save
his trademark MobiliX. His lawyers Jaschinski Bier Brexl - JBB
( http://jbb.de ) have send a request to delete the community-trademark
Obelix to the Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market of the
European Union - OAMI ( http://oami.eu.int/ ). The owners of the trademark
Obelix have accused Werner Heuser to use a name very similiar to their
trademark. Werner Heuser has lost the case because the highest German
civil court has dismissed his request for an appeal. But the lawyers have
found out that the trademark Obelix does not seem to have been used during
the first five years after registration in the appropriate trademark class
9. In such cases it is possible to ask the registration authority for a
deletion of the trademark. The detailed argumentation of the lawyers and
the history of the case is available online at TuxMobil
( http://tuxmobil.org/mobilix_asterix.html ). As long as
the case is not finished, the content of the
former site MobiliX may be found at TuxMobil ( http://tuxmobil.org ).

From: staf wagemakers <staf@patat.org>
Subject: CGIpaf 1.2.3 released
About:
cgipaf is a combination of three CGI programs. passwd.cgi, which
allow users to update their password, viewmailcfg.cgi, which allows
users to view their current mail configuration, and mailcfg.cgi, which
updates the mail configuration. All programs use PAM for user
authentication. It is possible to run a script to update SAMBA
passwords or NIS configuration when a password is changed. mailcfg.cgi
creates a .procmailrc in the user's home directory. A user with too
many invalid logins can be locked. The minimum and maximum UID can be
set in the configuration file, so you can specify a range of UIDs that
are allowed to use cgipaf.
CGIpaf 1.2.3 is the latest stable version and is available at:
http://staf.patat.org/cgipaf/
Changes:
The email forwarding method has been modified to avoid email
looping. configure has been improved to support newer versions of gdbm
and Berkeley db.
