About SciTech SNAP Graphics for Linux
=====================================

SciTech SNAP Graphics provides high performance graphics accelerator
access across a wide range of modern graphics hardware and operating
systems. The core technology is our SciTech SNAP Graphics Architecture,
which is a cross platform device driver technology enabling the use of
the same device drivers in all versions of SciTech SNAP Graphics.
Sharing the drivers between platforms improves the quality and
performance of device drivers for all supported operating systems.

The install archive contains the end user Linux installation of SciTech
SNAP Graphics. It contains all of the necessary Linux based utilities
and device drivers that work with SciTech SNAP based applications, as
well as full support for XFree86 4.0.2 and later official releases.
Applications that can utilise SciTech SNAP currently include
applications developed using the SciTech MGL graphics library, or
applications written to work directly with the SciTech SNAP device
drivers.

For more detailed information about SciTech SNAP Graphics for Linux
(including the list of supported graphics chipsets) see the complete
readme at:

Subject: zblast 1.3 - simple but fairly manic shoot-em-up
From: Russell Marks <russell.marks@ntlworld.com>

zblast is a simple but fairly manic shoot-em-up. There are versions
for both svgalib and X.

zblast's homepage is here:

  http://www.svgalib.org/rus/zblast/

You can also download it from ibiblio:

  ftp://ftp.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/games/arcade/zblast-1.3.tar.gz

Version 1.3 fixes a stupid buffer overrun, and somewhat reluctantly
adds support for auto-fire.

* Changes in zblast 1.3

Fixed exploitable (to give group-id games) buffer-overrun in
hi-score-writing.

Finally gave in and added auto-fire, but only when run with
`-autofire', and at the cost of disabling high-score saving. Thanks to
Oohara Yuuma for contributing the code, and to "Ariel" for also
suggesting auto-fire support.

Fixed brokenness on second repeat of the levels. Thanks to Oohara
Yuuma for spotting this.

Hello everybody, this is the announcement of WDX V0.2
Thank you for spreading this information around.

Annecy-France, August 18th, 2003
New Product: WDX, V0.2, High availability and disaster tolerance

Highlights:
           - High-availability architectures of many nodes,
           - Disaster tolerance framework for cluster-to-cluster
              and room-to-room failover,
           - Interoperating between Linux, NT and other operating =
systems.

Keyworks:
High Availability clusters, Failover, Multi-node stretched clusters,
Disaster tolerance, Multi-tiered applications, Linux, NT, VMS, UNIX

WDX ships TODAY. WDX is a versatile distributed lock manager
which implements synchronisation, watchdog and failover capabilities.
Immediat application of WDX is high availability clustering.

WDX software is Free-Software under GPL. WDX is delivered to
the community by Shaman-X project.
Shaman-X project aims at contributing to the management of
combinations of failures which may affect technical infrastructures of
large organizations and may lead them to serious crisis situations.

WDX V0.2 ships today for beta testing. To get the best demo, you should =
have
three or more Linux computers, all connected to two separate networks =
and a
gcc complilor. On a single computer with one ethernet adapter, you can =
get
something, but you'll need some imagination about WDX capabilities :-)
Install is straightforward (not rpm nor .deb yet), just a .tar and =
follow
instructions of http://downloads.shaman-x.org/wdx-readme.txt

Pointers to Shaman-X and WDX are:

http://shaman-x.org official homepage
http://wdx.shaman-x.org WDX repository
http://savannah.nongnu.org/projects/shaman-x web page for developers
http://mail.nongnu.org/mailman/listinfo/shaman-x-support mailing list

Contributors of all kinds are welcome to join and Shaman-X project is =
also
looking for reference implementation projects.

Shaman-X manager is Dominique Chabord, dominique.chabord@shaman-x.org

Enjoy

Subject: Announce: rta-0.6.0 adds /proc-like capability
Date: 28 Aug 2003 12:50:01 GMT

Run Time Access (RTA) is a library that lets you separate
your user interface from your daemon by giving a database
interface and/or a virtual file system interface to your
program. RTA can make your program's internal variables,
structures, and array of structures look like tables in a
Postgres database or like files in a file system. The file
system interface is based on Fuse by Miklos Szeredi.

Both the database and the file system interface point to
the actual data in memory in your program. They are not
copies of the data.

RTA is available at http://www.runtimeaccess.com.

Please stop by and try the on-line demo.

Blueprint for a Better Linux Distribution.

--> Called CremDeLa Linux, it intends to be cream of Linux
distribution, polished and professional.
--> Based on Slackware, it will be orientated for the desktop. It
will focus on delivering a good GNOME desktop, with additional tools
for the tasks the user requires, like media, word-processing, e-mail
and internet.
--> It will invite the user to accustom himself with the terminal
interface, with useful configuration apps and intoductions.
--> It aims to be consistant and streamlined, the GNU tools' manuals
and others will be re-written for this.
--> It tries to accomplish nearly all tasks without having to ask the
user for a 'root password'.
--> We do all the configuration and tinkering - the user just Uses
the OS. The user shouldn't be forced to configure or tinker.
--> There shall be no duplication of apps, no confusion. Just the
cream, the crem de la crem of apps.
--> Autopackage shall be included in the distribution, it will be
used for any additional packages the user decides to install himself
(NOTE: The 'install in home dir' should be reviewed, if KDE or other
such integral apps were installed here it could be corrupted, modified
easily by the 'ordinary' user. Otherwise Autopackage is a great
system).
--> Never shall we exceed the limit of 1 CD-ROM for the distribution.
--> It should appeal to the power user who wants to have fun with
their OS, who wants little configuration and maintainance for a good
GUI and application selection.
--> It aims to be professional enough to be adopted in office
situations for small and home businesses, where it can be adopted and
used without thought of what OS it is - it just Works Right, period.
