Subject: Xaw3d 1.1 port for Linux
Organization: The University of British Columbia
Summary: Port of the new version 1.1 of Xaw3d for Linux now available
Keywords: Xaw3d, Xaw, X11
Approved: linux-announce@news.ornl.gov (Lars Wirzenius)
Followup-to: comp.os.linux.x

The new Xaw3d-1.1 port for Linux has been uploaded to sunsite
and is currently in /pub/Linux/Incoming, where I suspect it's
going to stay for a while, given Erik Troan's work load ... :)
 The relevant files are:

  Xaw3d-1.1-bin.tar.gz
  Xaw3d-1.1-src.tar.gz
  Xaw3d-1.1.lsm

The binaries in Xaw3d-1.1-bin.tar.gz were compiled with gcc-2.6.3
using libc-4.6.27, and in detail are:

libXaw3d-g.a: 2588834 bytes; static library built with
the -g compiler option for debugging,

libXaw3d.a: 308002 bytes; static library built with -O2,

libXaw3d.sa: 44468 bytes; shared object library stubs,

libXaw3d.so.6.0: 327203 bytes; shared object library code.

Since most of the code clean-ups were adopted by the original
maintainer (Kaleb Keithley), you'll notice that only a few
sources in Xaw3d-1.1-src.tar.gz are patched. Unfortunately, the
fancy scroll-bars with the pushable arrows didn't make it in
the 1.1 release; oh well, maybe next time :)

There is now a README.Linux file in Xaw3d-1.1-src.tar.gz with
a few helpful tips on how to install the libs and what to use
for resources when customizing the appearance of the Xaw3d
 widgets.

That's about it, I guess. If anyone finds any problem with
any application when using this new port of Xaw3d, I would
very much appreciate it if you dropped me a line :)

  Enjoy,

  Dimitri
