PLUC (Pakistan Linux Users' Community) or LinuxPakistan.net was
formed in 1999 at SSUET (Sir Syed University of Engineering &
Technology) by a group of students, Abul Basit Khatri was the
founder.

Its main purpose was to promote Linux & OpenSource software in
Pakistan & spread its knowledge among the ppl.

Its main acheiements among others are

* A portal running from more than 3+ years

* Running a mailing list from the last 3+ years (500+ subsribers in
Pakistan & abroad)

* Online forum from the last 1+ year (500+ registered users)

* Every month's regular meetings from the last 1+ year.

* Arranged meetings at Lahore, Islamabad, Peshawar, Faisalabad etc.

* Aranged a few seminars in local universities for the awarness of
OpenSource & Linux there.

* Released other Linux distros beside RedHat in Pakistan's local cd
shops etc.

These all achievements were achieved by the help of
LinuxPakistan.net's volunteers/members, only for the sake of sharing
knowledge & promoting Linux.

In the future we would like to keep up the things doing now. We want
to

* Arrange more seminars, meetings, installfests etc at
colleges/universities, offices ... everywhere.

* Release more OpenSource software in the market & promote its usage

* Make our portal more useable & informative.

* Working on an urdu website only for Linux, where we would write
Urdu articles, how-tos for Linux & OpenSource software

These are some of the points, which I have tried to write, besdie
that there may be some more things which my friends at
LinuxPakistan.net could add, which we could do.

But I would like to tell you, that all this things can be acheived by
our group members, every one is invited to join, work towards the
promotion of Linux & OpenSource software in Pakistan. It is a
Community's effort not One person's work.

Come & Join us

Hope to see u to be with us.

regards,

-Meraj Rasool Khattak
