No Starch Press to Publish Official Books for Blender 3D Software
For Immediate Release
San Francisco - March 6, 2003 - No Starch Press has signed an agreement
with the Blender Foundation to be the official book publisher for
Blender 3D software. Blender is a free software tool for 3D computer
graphics, the market share of which has grown steadily among graphics
professionals since its first release in 1998. The first book to be
published under the new agreement is the No Starch Press edition of
"The Blender GameKit", scheduled for publication in April, 2003. This
is to be followed by an official book on Blender 2.3 in Fall, 2003.
"We're very pleased to have No Starch Press as a strategic partner,"
said Blender Foundation president Ton Roosendaal. "It is an important
step in establishing a strong network of companies around our Open
Source initiative. No Starch Press' position in the market, plus its
world wide network of contacts, will help us reach a much wider
audience than before." Bill Pollock, publisher of No Starch Press, is
excited to be working with the Blender Foundation. "I am impressed with
how quickly Blender's use has grown among graphics professionals, which
is why we published 'The Blender Book' two years ago. This agreement is
a continuation of our commitment to Blender and the Open Source
community."
