Hello,

Finally, OpenRADIUS 0.9.5 is out. It's been a while, and I'll try to
follow the "release early, release often" adagium a bit better in the
future.=20

There are a number of big changes in this release, most notably in the
RAIDUS client.=20

Previously, this was a simple convertor from ASCII A/V pairs to RADIUS
packets and back; now it's a full featured client that handles redundant
target servers, multiple outstanding requests, simple proxying, and on
the fly PAP and CHAP password encoding.

See the release notes at
http://www.openradius.net/openradius-download.html#relnotes-0.9.5

=46rom the changelog at
http://www.openradius.net/download/openradius-0.9.5/CHANGELOG

- Added versatile radius client in tools/radclient; supports fully
asynchronous operation, multiple target servers, the standard=20
OpenRADIUS module interface, encoding of PAP and CHAP passwords,
and much more. Can be used for trivial proxying purposes as well.

- Added a portable install script; installation now works hassle-free
  on Linux, NetBSD, FreeBSD, BSDI, SunOS 5, Solaris 7, Tru64 4.0, 5.1,=20
and QNX 4. No longer overwrites existing configuration directories.

- Complete rewrite of the build system, using a single-session make.
At the cost of relying more heavily on GNU Make, rebuilds are now=20
always correct, header dependencies are automatically generated and
tracked without requiring things like 'make dep', and full builds=20
are faster. (See the paper "Recursive Make Considered Harmful", by=20
Peter Miller). Also fixes inconsistencies in various Make.conf.xxx
  files.

- Changed default configuration directory from ...etc/raddb to
...etc/openradius. This makes it easier to keep it next to other
servers and removes the suggestion that the files are compatible.

- Ascfile module: multiline records are no longer delimited by blank=20
lines; rather, a new record is started by any non-comment line whose=20
first non-whitespace character is in column 0, for both single and=20
multiline-record files. The distinction is gone, so the -s flag is=20
not needed anymore either. (from Brian Candler <b.candler@pobox.com>)

A few bugs were fixed as well; please see the changelog for more
details.

The source tarball is available from=20
http://www.openradius.net/download/openradius-0.9.5.tar.gz

Kind regards,

Emile van Bergen.

From: "James K. Lowden" <jklowden@lowden.schemamania.org>
Subject: The developers of FreeTDS happily offer Version 0.61, release candidate 4.
Date: Tue, 25 Feb 2003 10:30:33 CST

FreeTDS is a free (open source) implementation of Sybase's db-lib,
ct-lib, and ODBC libraries. Currently, db-lib and ct-lib are most
mature. Both of these libraries have several programs known to
compile and run against them. ODBC is not quite as mature, but may
work depending on your needs.

FreeTDS builds and runs on every flavor of unix-like systems we've heard of, as
well as Win32 (with or without Cygwin), and Mac OS X. Failure to build on your
system is probably considered a bug.

This release supersedes version 0.60 in all respects. It addresses all known
bugs except one, see README for details.

FreeTDS may be found on ibiblio and its mirrors. Documentation and links to
related sites are posted at http://www.freetds.org.

New features include:

- Some support for Dynamic SQL in ODBC
- Output parameters for stored procedures
- Compute rows
- Varbinary datatype support
- dsn-less ODBC connections
- RPC support (db-lib)
- Compatibility with DBD::Sybase 0.95
- 68 new functions! (see doc/api_status.txt)
- Error/message handling rewritten, uses real error numbers
- new sample programs
- much cleaner code, warning-free compiles, namespace cleanup
- public domain versions of functions for OSs that lack them
- autoconf portability improvements
- new build and runtime platforms: HP-UX, Win32, and cygwin
- No dependency on OpenSSL

We encourage you to try this new version, and would be pleased to hear any
feedback you might have.

Comments may be directed to freetds@lists.ibiblio.org. Please include a
self-addressed, stamped envelope. Due to the volume of unsolicited manuscripts
we receive, yours may not be liked or even acknowledged. Void where prohibited
by law. Batteries not included. Have a nice day.
