Subject: [Ozway] Announcement: a free version 4 of binary news-to-web gateway is released
We have released version 4 of our WYSIWYG News-2-Web gateway.
New in version 4: it has NNTP interface for clients, as well as HTTP
interface, and can be used as a news server/cache. And it is free!
Ozway was designed with a goal to help ISPs to switch heavy binary
downloaders from external web link to internal news server and thus
save bandwidth and offer a better service to their users.
Ozway provides a WYSIWYG access to Usenet binary groups carrying images
(though it can be used with other newsgroups as well) by offering image
thumbnails to users for preview. Users can see what they are about to
download, avoid downloading unwanted material and improve dramatically the
value received for time and money, and their satisfaction with the service.
Ozway makes working with Usenet a joy.
Ozway 4 based access to newsgroups is already available to subscribers of a
commercial Usenet access provider Meganetnews. See:
http://www.meganetnews.com:1780/
and
http://www.meganetnews.com/webtv.htm
The users are happy and the company did not have any problems with Ozway
since
the service has started.
You can see Ozway demo here:
http://ozway.servehttp.com:1780/
If there are any problems with the demo server, check its status here:
http://www.ozinsight.com/ozway/start.html
Ozway is easy to install and run, a "start and forget" type of application.
If you have a news server, Ozway can help you to make a better use of it. If
you don't have a news server, Ozway still can help you if you use it as a
proxy to the (outsourcing) news server that your subscribers use. For
example, instead of paying for 100 connections, you can get away with 10 if
you use Ozway.
Ozway is VERY good for Usenet newbies. They can choose and they get what
they want. Ozway is designed to be an easy introduction to the Usenet. We
believe, however, that there is no way a Web gateway can be as powerful and
convenient as a newsreader. Web interfaces have their limits. We have
developed a matching client, Ozum, that, when working with Ozway (its NNTP
interface) can provide picture previews and can also do what "normal"
newsreaders do and a lot more. Thus, Ozum users get what Ozway users get
plus the power, convenience and extra features of a dedicated newsreader.
Of course, Ozum can work with normal NNTP servers too, but only when working
with Ozway it can do this:
1. Show picture thumbnails before downloading pictures, even if no contact
sheets/indexes have been posted by the poster.
2. Download in decoded format - saves 30% of traffic (except yEnc encoding,
which is economic and there is not much to save).
3. When scanning groups automatically, it requests CRCs of binaries first
and does not download binaries that have been downloaded before.
It is a powerful, outstanding application. Ozum is all-in-one newsreader. It
includes a binary newsreader, a programmable news scanner and a free
autoposter.
Ozum is *the only* newsreader featured in Microsoft Press book "Windows NT
Power Toolkit". Probably because it is so powerful, packed with features and
yet very simple to use.
Starting with the recently released version 2.86, Ozum has an option to be
registered for use only with servers in a particular domain. For example,
your domain.
Look here:
https://security.westserver.net/ozinsight/buy/productSelect.php?domain=yourd
omain.com
We are offering such limited licenses for $5, that is 25% of normal price -
quite affordable. I think this is perfect for bundling. You can offer to
your users a very powerful newsreader just for 25% of its normal price. Does
this sound interesting? Please let me know.
More about our software here:
http://www.ozinsight.com/ozway/
http://www.ozinsight.com/client/
A bonus offer: be the first ISP (except Meganetnews, of course) to offer
Ozway 4 to your users and you will get a free 1 year Ozum domain license for
ALL your users.

Sweep 0.5.10 Development Release
================================
Sweep is an audio editor and live playback tool for GNU/Linux, BSD and
compatible systems. It supports many music and voice formats including
WAV, AIFF, Ogg Vorbis, Speex and MP3, with multichannel editing and
LADSPA effects plugins. Inside lives a pesky little virtual stylus called
Scrubby who enjoys mixing around in your files.
This development release is available as a source tarball at:
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/sweep/sweep-0.5.10.tar.gz?download
New features in this release include vertical zoom with a draggable dB scale
and mouse wheel control, and some basic channel operations: Duplicate to
stereo/multichannel, Swap left and right, Remove left/right, Mix down to
mono, and Add/Remove channels.
This release also includes compile fixes for Solaris, and a bug fix for
first-time file 'save'.
A new section for screenshots contributed by users was recently added to the
screenshot tour:
http://www.metadecks.org/software/sweep/screenshots/
Some interesting audio recordings of Scrubby are at:
http://www.metadecks.org/software/sweep/demos.html
Sweep is designed to be intuitive and to give you full control. It includes
almost everything you would expect in a sample editor, and then some:
* precise, vinyl like scrubbing
* looped, reverse, and pitch-controlled playback
* playback mixing of unlimited independent tracks
* looped and reverse recording
* internationalisation
* multichannel and 32 bit floating point PCM file support
* support for Ogg Vorbis, MP3 and Speex compressed audio files
* LADSPA 1.1 effects support
* multiple views, discontinuous selections
* easy keybindings, mouse wheel zooming
* unlimited undo/redo with fully revertible edit history
* multithreaded background processing
* shaded peak/mean waveform rendering, multiple colour schemes
Sweep is Free Software, available under the GNU General Public License.
More information is available at:

Thanks to Pixar Animation Studios and CSIRO Australia for supporting the
development of this project.
enjoy :)
Conrad.

COMMERCIAL: RDS: Announcing the Radiant Data Distributed File System
for Linux
Announcing the Availability of the
Radiant Data Distributed File System
For Linux
Radiant Data Server (RDS) is a distributed replicating file system that
makes it possible to share data with network-wide consistency between
any number of sites. RDS "nodes" are connected to one another using
standard TCP/IP networks. Nodes form a peer-to-peer network known as the
consistency group. All nodes within the same consistency group share
the same data and multiple consistency groups can be formed to share
only specific data between specific nodes, if desired RDS can be
configured to use 256-bit AES encryption on a node by node basis. Unlike
NFS, InterMezzo, Coda and AFS, each server that is part of a consistency
group is immune to network failure and disconnected operation, since all
of the data is stored on a local disk allowing for read/write operations
on all your data to occur even when the network fails. When the network
comes back up the RDS system runs a consistency protocol that ensures
that all modified data is then replicated to all members of the
consistency group. When data is modified, only the actual changes
within the data are replicated between the nodes, ensuring maximum
performance with minimal network overhead

System please visit http://www.radiantdata.com
