Subject: ANN: Data Plotting Library DISLIN 8.0

I am pleased to announce version 8.0 of the data plotting software
DISLIN.

DISLIN is a high-level and easy to use plotting library for
displaying data as curves, bar graphs, pie charts, 3D-colour plots,
surfaces, contours and maps. Several output formats are supported
such as X11, VGA, PostScript, PDF, CGM, WMF, HPGL, TIFF, PNG and BMP.

The software is available for several C, Fortran 77 and Fortran 90
compilers. Plotting extensions for the interpreting languages Perl,
Python and Java are also supported for the most operating systems.

DISLIN distributions and manuals in PDF, PostScript and HTML format are
available from the DISLIN Home Page

     http://www.dislin.de

and via FTP from the server

     ftp://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/grafik/dislin

Hi,

I'm new to this group, and I would like to know if there are documented rules for posting to this group, and where?
The reason I am posting this question, is that I have a great website (great business opportunity) that I want to promote, and I don't want to break any rules by posting it everywhere.. any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for your time
Cathy

Subject: ANN: tk2 open source software for the ICOM IC-R2 receiver
Date: 30 Sep 2002 04:35:13 GMT

Hello moderator:

Please post this annoucement in comp.os.linux.announce.
Thanks,
Bob Parnass

Until now, all of the available cloning software for
the ICOM IC-R2 portable receiver have been closed source and
limited to a Microsoft Windows environment.

tk2 is a new open source program which lets you configure
the radio's operational settings. It can run on Linux,
MacOS X, Windows, BSD, and other operating systems.

tk2 can:

(1) Read a memory image from an IC- R2 receiver or a disk file.
        tk2 can read a native .tr2 file, a .IC2 file created
        by Butel's ARC2, or a .R2 file created by Goran Vlaski's
        IC-R2 Programming Utility.

(2) Display and edit data from a memory image using a graphical user
        interface.

(3) Import memory channel information from a .csv (comma-separated
file) or an ICF file downloaded from the Percon web
        database.

(4) Export memory channel information to a .csv (comma-separated
        values) file.

Currently, tk2 is designed only for the USA version radio.

tk2 is written in Tcl/Tk and released under the GNU General
Public License. You can learn about and download a beta test
version of tk2 from:

    http://parnass.com

I don't warrant the software, though it will cost you nothing.

HI!

Find a new release of web2ldap on

       http://www.web2ldap.de/download.html

What is web2ldap?

* A generic LDAPv3 client which does not make any assumptions about the
   tree structure or LDAP schema.
* Kind of a swiss-army knife for accessing/manipulating LDAP servers
   without having to configure anything.
* A secure LDAP client with clean login behaviour.
* A schema browser which displays references/dependencies within an
   LDAPv3 schema.
* For me it is a platform for implementing cutting edge LDAP features.
* Continously maintained software.

What it's not?

* A light-weight search interface.
* An administration user interface for your secretary to maintain
   the corporate address book.

Ciao, Michael.

(Why do people never test the pre-releases on their boxes...)

*** List of changes since 0.11.1 ***

      * Solved backward-compability issue with Python 2.1- caused
        by referring to exception socket.gaierror.
      * Solved backward-compability issue with Python 2.1- caused
        by nested scope in ldapsession.LDAPSession.open().
      * Distinguished names of group entries are handled
        case-insensitive in w2lapp.groupadm.
      * Replaced hard-coded path value for parameter schema_uri in
packaged configuration module with constructed relative
        path name.
      * Added (samAccountName=%s) to parameter binddnsearch in
        packaged default configuration.
      * Template file login.html was missing in package.
      * Some minor clean-ups in module ldapsession:
No import of module socket, dropped unused key-word
        argument useThreadLock for
        ldapsession.LDAPSession.__init__() and default of key-word
        argument traceFile is None.
      * If fake schema could not loaded the I/O exception is
caught and a log message is written to stderr. Will
continue to start web2ldap service. Currently writing the
log message does not work when running as FastCGI
        server...
      * Stripped configuration example for Apache/mod_fastcgi to
        what's really needed.

New Version of IBM e-Commerce Software Supports Linux on the Mainframe

Somers, NY, September 27, 2002 -- WebSphere Commerce, IBM’s leading
e-commerce software, is now available for IBM eServer zSeries customers
using Linux*, the open source operating system.

IBM was the first to deliver e-commerce software for customers running
Linux on the mainframe with an earlier version of WebSphere Commerce. This
new version of the software will allow enterprise customers to integrate
inventory and order management out-of-the-box, as well as increase online
performance for both business-to-consumer and business-to-business sites.

By supporting Linux on the zSeries, businesses have the ability to reduce
server administration and maintenance costs by consolidating server farms
to one mainframe server. The continuous availability of the zSeries
platform, coupled with the reliability and cost benefits of Linux, gives
businesses a stable, secure environment for B2C and B2B commerce sites to
conduct business.

WebSphere Commerce is based on open industry standards, including J2EE and
XML. It features an open architecture based on a Java programming model,
making it simple for developers to add or customize features to meet their
particular needs. The infrastructure is built on IBM software products,
including WebSphere Application Server and DB2 database software.

Product Availability and Pricing
WebSphere Commerce Business Edition Version 5.4 for the SuSe Linux
operating system is available on September 24, 2002. Prices begin at US
$125,000 per processor. Additional information is available at
http://www.ibm.com/software/commerce

IBM Corporation
IBM is the world’s largest information technology company, with 80
years of leadership in helping businesses innovate. IBM Software offers
the widest range of applications, middleware and operating systems for all
types of computing platforms, allowing customers to take full advantage of
the new era of e-business. The fastest way to get more information about
IBM software is through the IBM Software home page at
