Subject: MIMEDefang 2.4 -- flexible mail scanner for virus/trojan protection
Date: Thu, 21 Feb 2002 09:41:04 CST

=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====
Hash: SHA1

MIMEDefang is a GPL'd mail scanner which runs on Linux or UNIX systems.
It can manipulate mail in many ways, including removing Windows viruses,
replacing large attachments with URLs, adding boilerplate disclaimers,
restricting access to recipients to specified e-mail relays, and so on.
MIMEDefang uses Sendmail's "milter" API, and requires Sendmail 8.11 or
newer (8.12.1 recommended).

MIMEDefang is at http://www.roaringpenguin.com/mimedefang/

Major changes since 2.3:

o Ability to save statistics in a file so you can see how many
slave processes are running and how long each e-mail takes to process.

o Workaround for a bug in Microsoft Outlook. Outlook sometimes
misinterprets embedded carriage-returns in headers; MIMEDefang 2.4
(compile-time option; on by default) simulates Outlook's incorrect
behaviour. If you are protecting Outlook clients, I strongly recommend
that you upgrade to MIMEDefang 2.4. Actually, preferably, you should
  stop using Outlook.

David F. Skoll

Hello,

XLReader Project has released v. 1.0 of XLRSecTool for Linux, a software
package that provides tools for creating certificates and signing files.

XLRSecTool creates either Self-Signed Certificate or Trusted CA (Certificate
Authority) like Thawte or Verisign.
The application supports either DSA (Digital Signature Algorithm) or RSA
(Rivest Shamir Adleman) encryptions.
Authors and Developers may then sign documents (in JAR or XLR format),
applications, and applets (for use with JavaPlugin).

XLRSecTool is free and is available from
http://www.xlreader.com/download.html

Thanks,

HI!

Find a new release of web2ldap with minor changes on
_
  http://www.web2ldap.de/download.html

Ciao, Michael.

Changes since 0.10.2:
- Fixed race-condition in w2lapp.handler during handling expired
sessions leading to AttributeError exception.
- Input field length for attribute values in w2lapp.addmodifyform is
now 60 chars.
- Some more performance enhancements with determining the
appropriate attribute syntax for displaying an attribute value in
w2lapp.gui.DataStr().
- No generic error handler for IOError exceptions in
w2lapp.handler.HandleHTTPRequest() anymore.
- Reordered menu items in w2lapp.gui.ContextMenuSingleEntry() to
hopefully improve usability.

Reply-To: doug@hunley.homeip.net

Given the current state of affairs with the Norfolk Island DNS system, I've
registered another domain for the Linux StepByStep and begun moving things
over to it.
The new domain is is linux-sxs.org!

This means the website is at:
http://www.linux-sxs.org
http://linux-sxs.org

The news server is at:
news:news.linux-sxs.org

The mailing lists are at:
http://linux-sxs.org/mailman/listinfo/{x}
where 'x' is
linux-users
editors
mirrors
general
submissions
bsd-users

All current email accounts have been transferred to the new domain. You dont
need to do anything to your current subscriptions!

Please update any/all bookmarks and address books to use the new domain. The
prior domain will remain active for 90 days after which it will be forever
retired. (Of course, the prior domain isn't resolving right now, so it's not
much use anyway)

Any issues with this change should be directed straight to me at
doug@linux-sxs.org

Thanks for your patience in this matter.

Subject: Announcing the Linux StepByStep job board!
Date: Thu, 21 Feb 2002 09:43:19 CST
Reply-To: doug@hunley.homeip.net

In our continuing efforts to provide needed services to the community, Linux
StepByStep is pleased to announce the addition of the Linux StepByStep Job
Board!
The new service can be found at http://jobs.linux-sxs.org/ and already
contains over 1100 jobs and 572 registered active job seekers. This service
will be absolutely free for the job seeker.
Given the intended audience of the site, we've decided to narrow the field of
job postings to only those having to do with the Linux, Unix, or Embedded
communities.
We are also offering a brand new email list so that you can receive notice of
all new jobs that have been added to the database. To subscribe to this list,
simply follow the instructions at
http://www.linux-sxs.org/mailman/listinfo/jobs

The site is open to any and all job seekers and employers given that the
scope of the position lies within the Linux, Unix, or Embedded marketspaces.

Please feel free to check the site out and let us know what you think!
Thanks!

Subject: NEW RELEASE: Boodler 1.5.0
Date: Thu, 21 Feb 2002 09:43:40 CST

Boodler is a tool for creating soundscapes -- continuous, infinitely
varying streams of sound. Boodler is designed to run in the background
on a computer, maintaining whatever sound environment you desire.

Boodler 1.5.0 has a bunch of new sounds, a bunch of new soundscapes,
and (contributed) a terminal-window front-end user interface.

(LGPL. Requires Python (and Python development header files) to build
and run. Can output sound via OSS, ALSA, or ESD. And I've gotten it
running experimentally on the Sharp Zaurus.)

german speaking people.

=========================================================================

Am 09. und 10 März 2002 findet im neuen Hörsaalgebäude der TU Chemnitz
der 4. Chemnitzer Linux-Tag statt. Geboten werden ein sehr umfangreiches
Vortragsprogramm, etliche Vorführungen, die Parxis Dr. Tux und ein

LATE ADDITION: The SANE 2002 conference now includes a poster session.

The SANE Posters provide an excellent forum for authors to present their
work in an informal and interactive setting. Posters are ideal for
presenting speculative, late-breaking results or for giving an
introduction to interesting, innovative work. Posters are highly visual
and interactive. They are intended to provide authors and interested
participants with the ability to connect with each other and to engage in
discussions about the work. Posters provide authors with a unique
opportunity to make their work highly visible during the conference.

The SANE conference (System Administration And Networking) is held May
27 to 31 in Maastricht, the Netherlands. It is organized by the NLUUG,
the UNIX User Group - The Netherlands. Co-sponsored by USENIX, the
Advanced Computing Systems Association, and Stichting NLnet.

The closing date for submissions is March 9, don't wait!
