From: Sandro Sigala <ssigala@tiscalinet.it>
Subject: hp48cc 1.2 - HP48 C Compiler (C -> RPN)

`hp48cc' is a C-like compiler that translates input code into the
HP48 RPN language. The language recognized by the compiler is only a small
subset of the C language with some non-standard extensions. However,
the language is powerful enough to write complex programs simply.

Latest version can be found at my homepage:
http://www.sigala.it/sandro/

======================================================================

NEWS:

Changes between hp48cc 1.1 - hp48cc 1.2

* Added a lot of examples.
* Added local variables to language.
* Added support for non-alphanumeric HP48 symbols in strings and identifiers.
* Minor fixes to the language syntax.
* Added raise to power operator `**'.

From: Bruce Forsberg <forsberg@tns.net>
Subject: Open Source Audio Library Project 0.7.2

Version 0.7.2 of the Open Source Audio Library Project (OSALP)
has been released. OSALP is a C++ class library that contains
all the functionality one needs to build an audio application.
It runs on Linux, Solaris Sparc, and FreeBSD.

New in this release is a class that implements a Butterworth
filter. This provides for band pass, band reject, low pass,
and high pass filters. A class that provides the ability to
insert audio data into the start of an audio chain from data
in memory. A 32 bit signed data type has been added.
Sample rate converter class now has volume adjustment
associated with it. Bug fixes.

Software is available at:

http://osalp.sourceforge.net

Subject: COMMERCIAL : Linux for Chemistry cdrom

The Random Factory (Tucson AZ) is pleased to announce the latest
release in its series of scientific software for Linux compilations.

The Linux for Chemistry project (LfC) is dedicated to compiling the
most comprehensive collection of Chemistry software, and making it
available for the Linux operating system. LfC provides point-and-click
installation, a complete on-line library of searchable documentation,
and much more.

The packages on LfC represent the state-of-the-art in Chemistry data
processing, and are identical to the versions used on high end
scientific workstations.

The combination of ever decreasing hardware prices, and the superb
Linux operating system, now makes it possible to use these same
packages on a "standard" personal computer

The "Linux for Chemistry" cdrom is now shipping. It contains over
1Gb of Chemistry related applications, all pre-built and ready to run
on Linux (x86) systems.

Subject: KuickShow 0.8.2 - A very fast and comfortable imageviewer for released

Hi,

I'm happy to announce the availability of KuickShow 0.8.2 for Unix/X11/KDE2.

KuickShow consists of a filebrowser for navigating directories and one or
more viewer windows to display the images. In the viewer, you can easily
browse images via shortcuts like PageUp/Down. You can zoom into images with
+/- or by shift-pressing the mouse and using the rubber-band to select the
region you want to zoom. Adjusting settings like brightness, contrast, gamma
or rotating or mirroring images is possible with keyboard shortcuts or from
the contextmenu.

Images can be automatically up- or downscaled (maintaing the aspect ratio) to
fit best to your display size. Images larger than the display can be moved
smoothly inside the viewer.

You can open images in window or fullscreen mode and quickly change modes
with the Return-key.

You may run a slideshow of all images in a directory.

All settings including the keyboard shortcuts are configurable in the
preferences dialog.

KuickShow's main advantage is its speed. It's very fast at browsing images,
due to using the Imlib library and some clever preloading and caching.

KuickShow requires Imlib1, Qt 2.3x, kdelibs >= 2.1 and is available at
http://kuickshow.sourceforge.net

(Source RPM automatically utilizes objprelink for faster startup, if you have
it installed, see http://www.research.att.com/~leonb/objprelink/ )
