Subject: HTTP Fetcher library
Announcing the initial release of HTTP Fetcher, an HTTP download
library...
It's located at http://cs.nmu.edu/~lhanson/http_fetcher/
About
=====
HTTP Fetcher is a small, robust, flexible library for downloading files via
HTTP using the GET method.
It's easy to use, but it also allows you to customize and manipulate your
file requests through altering the User Agent, Referer, timeout, etc. The
error reporting functions give you a simple, clean interface through which
to obtain information about a problem.
There are a couple of other libraries that handle HTTP requests (http-tiny,
for example) but are generally more complex to use and are focused on
different goals. HTTP Fetcher is designed to let you retrieve files via HTTP
quickly and easily without having to reinvent the wheel. From this base you
can build interactive download tools (like fetch), site mirroring tools, web
spiders, anything with a need to do HTTP GETs.

Subject: fetch (HTTP download tool)
Announcing the release of 'fetch', an HTTP download utility.
http://cs.nmu.edu/~lhanson/fetch/
About
=====
fetch is a simple, fast, and flexible HTTP download tool built on the HTTP
Fetcher library.
fetch allows you to customize your request by changing the User Agent and
Referer presented to the webserver. This is useful for emulating certain
browsers, among other creative things. You don't even have to save the
requested file to disk; fetch can simply generate a hit on the webserver.
There are other tools out there that handle HTTP transfers (wget), but a
lot of them are more focused on mirroring websites and the like; not that
you can't do that with fetch, but fetch gives you a clean, simple way to
grab files interactively or from a script.

Subject: LOCAL: Long Island Linux Users Group Meeting
LILUG, the Long Island Linux Users Group, will hold its regular monthly
meeting on Tuesday, July 10th, 2001, at 8 PM in Gleeson Hall, room 202/204, on
the campus of SUNY Farmingdale.
We will have a discussion about regular expressions. Matt Surico will be
giving a talk on what they mean and how to use them. This will be an
interactive learning session, concentrating on the use of regexps on the
command line (bash, sed and awk).
LILUG meetings are free and open to all. We meet on the second Tuesday of
every month on the campus of SUNY Farmingdale. For directions and more
information, please visit us at: http://www.LILUG.org

Subject: GNU MDK version 0.3.5 released
From: "Jose A. Ortega Ruiz" <jaortega@acm.org>
GNU MDK 0.3.5 has been released. It is available from
ftp://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/mdk/ and mirrors of that site (see list of
mirror sites at http://www.gnu.org/order/ftp.html) [0].
GNU MDK provides a simulator of D. Knuth's MIX computer, and a
development environment to write, run and debug MIXAL programs on it.
New in this release:
** In gmixvm, when the mouse pointer is over a MIXAL source line, the
status bar shows the value of the variables appearing in this line.
** The current symbol table can be displayed, in gmixvm, using the menu
command Debug->Symbols...
** Bug fix: the load, compile and run file dialogs now get the correct
filename under linux.
** Bug fix: fonts used by gmixvm are now always correctly saved.
** Bug fix: 'psym' now works correctly in gmixvm.
** Bug fix: the symbol table for a MIX file is now correctly recovered
both in gmixvm and mixvm (negative values where incorrectly
converted to a positive value).
Visit the MDK home page at http://www.gnu.org/software/mdk/mdk.html.
Bug reports should go to bug-gnu-mdk@gnu.org.
Enjoy!
