Subject: rp-pppoe 3.1 -- Robust PPPoE suite for Linux
=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====
Hash: SHA1
Version 3.1 of rp-pppoe has been released. It is the successor to 3.0.
rp-pppoe is a user-mode (and kernel mode, on Linux 2.4) client and
server for the Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet, a protocol used
by many ADSL service providers. It runs on standard Linux kernels
NetBSD and Solaris. rp-pppoe is released under the GNU General Public
License, and can be obtained from:
http://www.roaringpenguin.com/pppoe/
Changed from Version 3.0 to 3.1:
o Security fix to server. It now correctly rejects PADT's from incorrect
MAC addresses. If you are using the server, you are strongly urged to upgrade.
o New server features: Server can now listen on multiple interfaces. It
can randomize session numbers, and delays reuse of a session number as long
as possible.
o Kernel-mode PPPoE is better-documented, and works with Michal Ostrowski's
latest patched PPP suite (ppp-2.4.1-pppoe2.tgz).

Subject: sysstat-4.0.1 - System performance tools for Linux
Hi everybody,
Although sysstat release 4.0.0 appeared to be quite stable, there is now
a new version of this nifty little package!
sysstat release 4.0.1 in available on sunsite/metalab server:
ftp://metalab.unc.edu/pub/Linux/system/status/
87kB sysstat-4.0.1.tar.gz
89kB sysstat-4.0.1-1.src.rpm
68kB sysstat-4.0.1-1.i386.rpm
The sysstat utilities are a collection of performance monitoring tools
for Linux. These include sar, mpstat, iostat and sa tools.
sysstat 4.0.1 is a *stable* version, which is fully compatible with
Linux 2.4 kernels!
To learn some more about sysstat, check out
http://perso.wanadoo.fr/sebastien.godard/
Changes vs 4.0.0 are:
2001/06/24: Version 4.0.1
* Files created by sa2 shell script were world writable. This is now
fixed.
* sa2.sh shell script updated: only remove sa?? and sar?? files.
* Don't use PAGE_SHIFT since it no longer necessarily exists in
<asm/page.h>. Compute it using page size instead.
* Cosmetic changes for iostat.
* NLS updated: Afrikaans translation added.
