=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====
Hello,
Version 3.11 of lcrzo is now available.
Lcrzo is a network library, for network administrators and network hackers.
Its objective is to easily create network programs.
This library provides network functionnalities for Ethernet, IP, UDP,
TCP, ICMP, ARP and RARP protocols. It supports spoofing, sniffing,
client and server creation. Furthermore, lcrzo contains
high level functions dealing with data storage and handling.
Using all these functions, you can quickly create a network test
program. Lcrzo, which means "Laurent Constantin RéZO" (RéZO=network in
French), and can be pronounced " 'el' 'sea' 'reso'lv ", is available
under the GNU LGPL license. This library was successfully installed under
Linux, FreeBSD and Solaris.
The library lcrzo provides :
- network functionnalities :
+ address conversion
+ packet encoding/decoding/printing
+ spoofing
+ real/virtual UDP/TCP clients/servers
+ sniffing
+ device(network board) dealing
+ etc.
- and general functionnalities :
+ data conversion
+ chained list
+ IPC
+ etc.
Over 200 examples of lcrzo are included in lcrzoex.

Issue #27 of Georg's Brave GNU World,
the monthly GNU forum has been released.
-- Georg Greve
Hi !
Issue #27 of the column is now online and it can - as usual - be found
on the GNU Webpage and its mirrors. Otherwise just follow the links at
the end of this posting.
Georg's Brave GNU World is a monthly column which is being released
simultaneously in seven languages (English, German, French, Japanese,
Spanish, Korean and Portugese) on the web and printed in the German
"Linux-Magazin" as well as the "Linux Magazine" U.K. and the "Linux
Magazine France." This makes it the monthly column with the widest
distribution worldwide (afaik).
If you would like to receive mail about new issues directly, you can
subscribe to the "Brave GNU World" announcement mailinglist. Just
send mail to <brave-gnu-world-request@gnu.org> with "subscribe" in
the *body*. The mailinglist is only for announcements that are related
to the "Brave GNU World" and is of very low volume (between 1 and 2
mails a month).
The 27th issue covers the following topics:
* GNU/Linux TerminalServer for Schools (juicing up your old
it-center)
* GNU HaliFAX (update on the GNU fax environment)
* GOSSIP (simulation for communications engineering and
digital signal processing)
* Jude (building workgroup applications)
* HyperBuilder (creating powerful dynamic web sites)
* BGW Internals (behind the scenes of the Brave GNU World)
This column intends to provide a forum for all GNU maintainers,
friends and associates and I am always open to suggestions. So if
you
* have questions about the GNU Project that might be of general
interest
* have a GNU Project and would like to improve its profile
* would like to start a GNU Project you are looking for people to
start it with
* think something doesn't get the publicity it deserves
* would like to see something made public
send mail to:
"Brave GNU World <column@gnu.org>"
This column is for everyone with an interest in Free Software,
so don´t hesitate to contact me if your project is under a Free
Software license and you´d like to see it introduced here.

Subject: man_db 2.3.18 released
Date: Thu, 24 May 2001 21:14:35 GMT
=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====
man_db: The on-line manual database
===================================
I've released man_db version 2.3.18.
Description
- -----------
man_db contains an implementation of the man command, which is the
primary way of examining the on-line help files (manual pages). Other
utilities provided include the whatis and apropos commands for searching
the manual page database, the manpath utility for determining the manual
page search path, and the maintenance utilities mandb, catman and
zsoelim. The package requires a troff installation, such as groff (GNU
troff) to format and display the manual pages.
About this release
- ------------------
This is an interim release under new maintenance, merging most of the
work done by former maintainers (Graeme Wilford and Fabrizio Polacco,
both of whom I thank for their work). It incorporates several years of
changes made in the Debian GNU/Linux distribution's package of man_db,
as well as the previously missing changes from Graeme Wilford's 2.3.11
and 2.3b12 releases.
I intend to use this as a synchronization point to merge fixes and
improvements made by other distributions. I would greatly appreciate it
if anyone else using man_db as their manual pager could send me any
relevant patches.
This release includes several security fixes (temporary files, a format
string vulnerability, more careful privilege dropping), better handling
of locales, improved use of gettext, and a number of other major and
minor enhancements. For full details, please see the files docs/NEWS and
docs/ChangeLog in the source distribution.

=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====
Freddy (FRanc's Editor) is an ascii text editor. It resembles to
the DOS Navigator's editor, but it will know much more than it.
It will be fine to write programs (I write it with itself for a
couple of months).
This version's most important news innovation is that it is now
possible to install on every Linux system, which have QT. It is
packaged into tar.bz2, deb, and rpm format.
Freddy now supports dynamic modules, so anybody can write
extensions for it in the future. I will write an ETAGS and a
dictionnary module for it, and later a map-bar (it is my idea,
ask me if you are courious).
If emacs is too robust and rigid to you, nedit hasn't got
enough tools and you would like to use an adaptable and friendly
editor maybe freddy will be your editor! If you have any
suggestion or demand please write it to me!
Freddy's web page: http://freddy.sf.net
Best regards,
Ferenc Moricz <fmoricz@freemail.hu>

Take the CD player to the nth dimension.
I am pleased to announce the release of xmcd version 3.0, a package
including xmcd, an X11/Motif-based CD audio player utility and cda, a
command-line driven, non-graphical CD audio player.
In its evolution over the past few years, xmcd has established itself as
the premier CD player application for the X window system with an
attractive, easy-to-use user interface. It is the most feature-rich CD
player that runs on Linux, FreeBSD, Solaris, HP-UX, UnixWare, AIX, Irix,
Digital/Compaq Tru64 UNIX, SCO Open Server, BSDi and most other UNIX
system variants. It also supports the widest array of CD-ROM, CD-R, CD-RW
and DVD devices, including multi-disc changers and some older SCSI-1
drives that do not work with other CD player applications.
The remote CD database query feature fully utilizes the Internet and
taps on the vast repository of the Gracenote CDDB(tm) Music Recognition
Service(sm), which was originally pioneered by xmcd. This release adds
support to the enhanced Gracenote CDDB2(tm) service on many platforms,
offering richer content.
Xmcd also features "wwwWarp", the ability to remote control a web
browser, so that you can search and access many useful web resources and
information related to the CD you're listening to. Gracenote's CDDB
Music Browser provides related information and links to internet sites of
interest, and the Local Discography feature lets you organize, browse
and play files related to your CD collection. Xmcd literally takes music
enjoyment to a level far beyond the standard stereo.
There are too many features to list, so visit the xmcd web page for
full information, screen snapshot and downloads:

Xmcd is FREE, Open Source Software, released under the GNU General Public
License.

HI!
Find a new release of web2ldap containing security fixes on:
http://www.web2ldap.de/download.html
Ciao, Michael.
Changes since 0.9.1:
* Security fix:
When calling ldapsession.LDAPSession.bind() the LDAPSession
instance (associated with the web session) flushes all cached
data, forgets all old RootDSE attributes and calls
ldapsession.LDAPSession.getRootDSE() again.
* Security fix:
Fixed determining SSL security level and displaying
certificates
from SSL-related environment vars in conninfo. (works only
through
FastCGI)
* Security feature:
Reimplemented rudimental SSL-based authorization scheme for
gateway use. (works only through FastCGI)
* Fixed handling of search scope select field when a search
form is
displayed after the user entered an invalid search filter.
* Send HTTP error 405 in msHTTPHandler if running stand-alone
and
web application is accessed with HTTP-method HEAD.
* Adjusted some more HTTP error responses in msHTTPHandler for
running stand-alone to be hopefully more compliant to [16]RFC
2616.
* If the user enters an incomplete RDN for a new entry
containing
only the attribute type (e.g. 'cn=') and the corresponding
attribute value is present in the entry the new RDN is
automatically formed.
* Removed input form for command locate from entry page because
too
many people did not know what it means. Instead directly
invoke
web2ldap with URL http://[host:port]/web2ldap/locate to get
the
input form.
